Was going to say exactly this. Her Facebook private messages aren't open, aside from anything.
She possibly is getting abuse, but it's clear she's lied on plenty of things. Also possible some of the hateful bile posted on her Facebook page has got people's backs up as much as anything in the show.

Agreed. She does make a lot of indefensible and unpleasant comments, and her social media doesn’t show her in a good light at all, but it also makes quite clear that she’s not at all mentally well. Not an excuse for her unpleasant comments or dreadful opinions, but an indicator as to why she hasn’t taken ‘sensible’ actions such as locking down or disabling her accounts.

No one who watched BR has any idea what really happened in relation to RG, we only know his dramatised/fictionalised version. Yes, there is ‘proof’ in the form of two archived news reports about her stalking other people, and there’s evidence of her bombarding RG with online messages, but beyond that there’s just RG’s fictionalised account. And I’m not entirely comfortable with putting blind faith in his account as I think his motivations in putting this out there are complex, questionable, and possibly driven by trauma and/or emotional instability.

It’s a bleeping mess, it’s going to get messier, and the rapidity with which this has escalated is rather suspicious.

Yeah I'm not keen on him at all the way this has panned out.
 
When I finished watching the series I felt moved by it and like it was a really great piece of art/production etc. Then I found this thread and thought it was interesting to see how people responded to it.

Now this thread actually just makes me feel sad about the whole thing; sad about the people involved, sad about society.
 
I'm a bit disturbed that the real Martha has been identified - and seems to be revelling in her dubious fame. I wonder if she has anyone in real life who cares about her and will keep an eye on her? She seems to be quite a lonely soul, but has some horrible racist and homophobic views, which she isn't bothered about sharing.

Part of me is still hoping it's all a massive wind up and that facebook profile is fake.

I’ve been going to the Hawley arms for about 18 years so it’s crazy to think I could have been in there when all this went on 😂 I’m not local to Camden but it’s my favourite pub so I visit often. I was there last weekend and it didn’t feel busier than usual (although it’s usually very busy anyway because of the links to Amy).
It could be that there is dodgy stuff going on but I honestly doubt it’s any more dodgy than most other London pubs. Police routinely raided a lot of pubs back then but you don’t see it as much now since budget cuts.
