Me trying to work out if this also financial advice… so travel to France to buy specific champagne glasses? She’s been out of touch for quite some time… I wouldn’t care if her brand wasn’t so focused on finances though. It’s a cost of living crisis. The optics are pretty poor. Does she not have anyone in her life who says “are you legit?” The stuff she is posting is insane… I hope no FTMs watching her aren’t feeling bad they also can’t go to Europe on mat leave.

What in the white supremacy is this ‘EuRoPeAn PaReNtInG’ business?
She’s ignored the fact that literally all cultures all over the world (including Indigenous Australians) bring their children up in more of a community sense except western culture where it’s not really viewed as a village effort/mentality at all.

I don’t care that she’s flaunting her wealth, good luck to her, it’s the smug and condescending way she delivers financial advice aimed at young women. It’s the boomer energy that if they save their coffee money each day they’ll be able to achieve the wealth levels of previous generations, missing out the massive family help and legs up that many people get to be able to get to where they are.

Many of these countries maintain this because people still live in the same town as their parents, grandparents etc. it’s changing a lot in Spain as families are becoming two income households and young people are leaving towns etc more to chase better prospects. Lots of articles about grandparents feeling resentful at the unpaid labour etc. the whole ‘French babies eat everything’ ‘French women are always thin and stylish’ yarn is such shite.

If you want to raise your kid a certain way, just do it. Don’t expect other people to think you are great or give a fook about your baby.

This is sooo nitpicky but she looks like a dope when she writes "€12 euros" like yeah mate that's what the € means. She did it again when explaining the price of the hotel - tell me you read here without telling me you read here, now pull your Grinchy eyebrow head in.
 
I don’t think she was talking about a village, I think she’s talking about just dragging the kid along to whatever they’re doing.
Skipping soft play to take Harvey to an art gallery and him saying, “oh mummy, I love the impressionist paintings, but I do prefer the Renaissance period”. Fancy restaurants instead of RSLs with a playground and little Harvey sipping Evian while eating his caviar.

In reality, Harvey will be palmed off to a nanny while Vicky continues to live her extravagant lifestyle.
 
A few snippets of reviews from googling that book. Exactly what I thought. Apparently extinction cry it out is really common and they stop breastfeeding at three months. I don’t know why I’d bother to have kids if I’m not interested in changing my lifestyle and don’t want to play and spend time with them?

How nice that Vicky is such a parenting expert with her one newborn baby. Can’t wait for her to brag about his eating when he’s a baby and in the phase they all go through where they eat everything, before they turn into picky toddlers. It’s pretty normal here now for babies to be started on vegetables and fed what the parents are eating.

I used to really enjoy shameless podcast. I have always found Michelle irritating but found zara was a nice balance (I'm from Melbourne so don't notice their accents). But this year the podcast has really gone downhill. It really seems like they've put no effort in at all. What the duck is this clickbait challenge? I get some weeks are slow news weeks but their podcast was more entertaining during covid when the world was in lockdown. I agree they have their fingers in too many pies and it seems they're really not putting effort in

All babies sleep through the night by 3 months old 😂😂😂😂 this is such BS.

My first child was super cruisey, literally could take her to whatever I was doing. Went hiking, did heaps of gardening, road trips etc. it was al fine because that was her personality and it didn’t annoy other people plus it was one baby. Cut to second who DID NOT STOP CRYING. Cannot imagine her being welcome in an art gallery anywhere. Plus I’ve seen so many French kids be little shits. Why we feel the need to romanticise and generalise another country to this extent is baffling. Why not romanticise your own country?

As a non Aussie living here I think Australian teens are some of the most self assured, funny, confident and competent kids I’ve met anywhere and (not to brag) I’ve worked with kids from all I’ve the world. Australian families are great at exposing kids to the great outdoors, learning to respect nature and getting their kids to be self reliant.

I find country kids so fun, they are polite and respectful and always eager to help. I’m delighted my kids are growing up here and I like playing Lego (occasionally and not standing on it obviously) and having unpretentious conversations with other mums that are constantly interrupted by various rat bags who know their needs are going to be met.

Can I get my citizenship now?

Children don’t snack but candy and chocolate isn’t off limits? Sounds like a contradiction to me 🤣
 
I have friends with literal French children and I can assure you they are as ridiculous and demanding as Australian children. I will say - their mama wasn't allowing any screen time, but at a Christmas party we chucked on a movie for the all the kids. Which kids were absolutely mesmerised and couldn't tear their eyes away, and which ones got bored and went outside to play in the sprinkler?
 
Shameless has gone downhill FAST. I’ve been an avid listener since 2018 so I’ve been around a while.



First they need to either get rid of Annabelle or have the producer sit outside of the recording studio where she can’t interact.



Their recommendations and week recap needs to be kept to 5 minute MAX and anything else should go into a Shamemore bonus cut.



Controversial opinion, but Zara is carrying the podcast at the moment. Michelle has dulled down her opinions that there’s barely any point of having her input anymore.



Also their choice of topics/when they decide it’s a slow news week makes ZERO sense to me.



In the past week they’ve missed 3 of the biggest stories:



  1. North West and the Lion King musical disaster
  2. Amber Rose going from empowered feminist to Trump supporting lunatic
  3. Abbie Chatfield launching her relationship with her boyfriend’s half boner


When they do cover interesting topics it’s the dullest/safest opinions, too much cackling and snorting or it’s moved on from too quickly.

As someone who started listening from around the same time as you, I completely agree with everything you just said. They’ve made it pretty obvious in the past (well Michelle has anyway) that they are not open to criticism though. Will be interesting to see where the podcast is at this time next year.

Hard agree. I don't mind the addition of annabelle if she contributed something to the conversation but she always says she hasn't heard about the story or her opinion is on the fence and doesn't bring anything to the topic.

No matter how hard they try to deny it, they've become influencers themselves and so seems as if they always play it safe.
