They're sheeple?! 🤣

Anyway, why are they now posting on this thread, if they keep to themselves? This is the anti conspiracy theory thread, after all.
Because someone made a very bold claim about a poster, and honest to god, I have no idea who it is. So I am missing something the rest of you know, in which case I would like to know who it is.

Else I do in fact either keep to myself, or post supportive things to other posters not on that thread. Why? Because I don’t need to change anyone else’s point of view and I respect theirs. Like you don’t see me going on the covid thread belittling or being mean to anyone or try to change their minds.

Yes (though its not called that atm) I actually enjoy reading the conspiracy thread when it is a wider range of topics discussed, I’ve even joined in when you were all chatting about JonBenet and true crime conspiracies but I actually really struggle now it’s so covid focussed.

There’s so much great reset chat which is spoken about as more than just a theory but a definitive thing which if you don’t believe you are laughed at or called a sheep on there. I feel like there’s no room to disagree with that stuff, and it’s not just throwing ideas around harmlessly. Some posters seem very consumed by what they think is going on and I find it hard to read.
I agree that sometimes certain topics can become repetitive, and I personally like to discuss all kinds of conspiracy theories, infact, today, many posters were discussing their top 3 (non-covid) favourite CT’s, and it was actually really interesting to debate these, and made a change from just discussing everything covid related. If you ( or anyone else ) wants to come on the thread to discuss CT’s that are interesting to you, then please do!! The thread is for everybody, same as any other here.

What gets me is the CT really do think they are so much more intelligent than anyone else because they are "not sheep", and apparently we are frightened on here.....

I dont mind the CT thread tbh, i find it interesting reading what everyone else thinks (even though 99% of it i dont believe myself), but its the arrogance of some people that i dont like. I think im pretty well versed in the art of critical thinking and enjoy debates, but please dont think you are more intelligent just because you believe the moon landing isnt real!

My ex was one of those arrogant people when it came to conspiracy theories. Especially about covid . I put a post on Instagram about my dad suffering with covid and having to be in hospital (he’s only 50!) I made a vague mention saying “covid is extremely real. Don’t be one of those wanky conspiracy theorists” and he sent me a message saying “it probably wasn’t covid. More likely the flu or something” ah he was such a smart individual.

Anti vaxxers are not new. Margaret Collins O'Driscoll was elected to the Irish parliament (Dail) in 1923 - this is part of a speech about anti-vaxxers (smallpox) she made in 1928 (she had 14 children)

I have read some of the objections that in the early days were put up against vaccination. Deputy Byrne’s theories seem as ridiculous as many of the objections that were put up when Dr Jenner first discovered the effects of vaccination. It was prophesied that vaccination would brutalise the children; it was averred that the vaccinated children became ox-faced; that abscesses broke out to indicate the spread of horns, and that the countenance of the person affected became gradually transmuted into the visage of a cow, and the voice into the bellowing of bulls. There seems to be about just as much sense and logic in some of the arguments which the anti-vaccinationists have put up in this House as there were in the objections I have just mentioned. I appeal to deputies to think of their responsibilities to the children of this country and to oppose this measure.”

My grandmother has been anti-vax since the 70s or 80s. Long before Andrew Wakefield she knew a family who were convinced that a vaccine had caused their son's autism. If you told her now that vaccines turn children into cows she would probably believe it!

There are also some barefaced liars on there and people who have been banned come back with new names, it’s quite insidious the way one particular poster has identified as a care home worker, a teacher, a nurse, has children, doesn’t have children, has MH issues, doesn’t have MH issues etc, depending on who they are “empathising” with. I think it’s called mirroring and is a powerful psychological tool.

It is obvious who it is, and im so so surprised that the 'Intelligent, critical thinking masterminds' havent noticed haha ;)

I didn’t make a bold claim, I stated facts that could be verified by going through this person’s posts - in all of their guises (if I could be arsed).

My personal favourite are those who think Social Services remove blonde hair/blue eyes children, and also receive a bonus when they do so! And they use Daily Mail articles as 'evidence'. Even when i explain that im a qualified social worker and have spent years working in child protection they still believe that tit! It used to really get to me and upset me, but i dont give a tit now, and if they want to believe that then let them crack on. Il still be here counting my bonus money and targeting blonde hair children :)

I never minded some conspiracy theories, I quite liked reading about the moon landing etc even if I didn't agree. But the covid stuff does my head in, claiming hospitals were empty and the nhs staff are in on it all etc. Then mis information about the vaccine etc. I have no issue with people choosing not to have the vaccine (I think mandatory vaccines are a very slippy slope) but not having the vaccine because of misinformation is not the way to go either, especially when they then fear monger. As for the theories about paedos and blood drinkers, that's when I totally switch off 😆

When you ask them for sources it's normally facebook. There will be some vague allusion to a 'non-MSM' site but it never appears. Or you have to be 'in the know' to get access 'to the facts'.

It's crazy though because I used to just associate them with people online. However there's a few people at work who are really into them - think it's all fake, won't have the vaccine etc.

But there's no point arguing because they love it

couldn’t agree with this more, I always enjoyed reading them because believe them or not they are interesting!
2020 took that to the extreme though, pandemic/trump, right now these theories are inciting violence, I know we don’t have any sinister posters on here trying to push for people to arm up and get out and fight, and I know a lot of people are scared, but I hate to see anyone making their own mental health worse by going down these rabbit holes and becoming consumed by it to a point they can’t see straight on anything, If you’re making you decision on a vaccine based on YouTube uploads and tweets that’s worrying.
Whether the queen drinks the blood of the peasants isn’t going to have people killed or injured now.

I have been so shocked since this whole pandemic the people I know who are becoming CTs. One of my friends (a teacher, worryingly) keeps saying things like "who are all these people who are ill? where are they? I am not seeing them"....

online, at least lately there is a sense of community with the CT lot, like a secret society and if you’re part of it you’re above the “sheep” who are willingly giving their freedom away, maybe that feeds into it, people who never felt like they belonged wanting to feel like they now belong somewhere. Not all who believe them have MH issues but worryingly a lot do, and when we’re all alone they’re an easy target

I guess it's going to be another one of the after effects of the Pandemic. People have become literally obsessed with it all so it's going to leave some quite empty afterwards.

Yeah definitely. I imagine for someone who struggles with mental health issues and low self-esteem an online space like that could give them a lot of reassurances. A voice to share, people agreeing with you, a lot of pats on the back and bigging up.

Which is fine but it then changes they're actively spreading the CT's and trying to convince other people of its merits.
