but where they say that some of the things they said would happen have happened that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a conspiracy or anything devious.

maybe 0.000000001% 😬
A lot of these theories are put out to target vulnerable people who want so badly to believe in something and be accepted in a community.
Put out there by people who are equally damaged or even worse looking to cause damage 😐

I feel sorry for the innocent people who fall for it.

this is good

I don’t agree with the whole narrative of people who believe all this ‘great reset, we are all going to end up in some orwellian situation/Qanon/trump saviour’ have mental health issues or any of that stuff. Mostly because I wouldn’t want to tar people with mental health issues with that brush.

But I do feel like there is something inherently wrong with people who really beleive, to be so detached from reality and to believe things with absolutely no evidence? So adamantly too? They also seem to have some kind of superiority complex.

Is it some sort of part of your personality or brain that makes you more susceptible to this stuff? Or just pure narcissism and enjoying the idea that you are ‘better’ or privy to something others aren’t?

It’s actually quite fascinating. I don’t know anyone in real life like this but those of you who do, do they have anything in common? Low intelligence maybe or perhaps have a very small world vision or something?

Thank you, I have mh issues and don't believe any of this. I'm sure some do though.

I find all the ones I know irl who are like this aren't very educated in anything. They just seem to be lacking intelligence to me.

Sorry if this is going off topic. But what really really pisses me off about the CT people is how they shout how clever and intelligent they are, and how they are so much more intelligent than anyone else because they are 'critical thinkers'..... Just duck off! Im not being big headed or anything but im quite clever- ive got my BA and MA degrees- my BA is in History/Criminology, and my MA is in Social Work, therefore i really did have to critically engage/ analyse information. And yet the CT people think they are so much more intelligent. Yet in the same sentence they also say things like " oh no, i didnt bother with uni. I didnt need to, im clever enough, plus those places are full of the worst people blah blah blah".

Sorry if i sound petty but it really pisses me off.

Still doesn't erase their lack of intelligence in everything else though. They're the worst.

I know you’re right, I don’t know why I do because it has upset me sometimes. I suppose there’s that little bit of me that’s scared of what if they’re right. I think I’ve felt vulnerable many times since last March x

I suffer with anxiety so have felt the need to look into their claims "just in case". And sometimes I have felt sucked in and that sense of "what if? These people sound so convinced maybe they have some credibility." So I get where you are coming from in this.

For me though, when I first started hearing all the anti-Covid rhetoric I was, thankfully, in a good place with my MH, and felt confident enough to challenge friends who were spouting this nonsense. I actually positioned it with one friend that, as I suffer with crippling anxiety already, why would I benefit from delving into these dark theories making the world feel a scarier place than it already is? She came back with a load of waffle about making the world a "safer place for her children" (I don't have children so this was like her trump card, if you will).

Her response actually helped me see this for what it is though - speculative rubbish which thrives on fear and division. I totally get how frightening it is for people and actually it shows that it is the CTs who are trying to control people through fear rather than the Government and those they accuse.

Thank you, yep what you’ve said is exactly it. The first theories I heard stemmed from sister in law who is honestly one of the least credible people I know so I was just rolling my eyes but then it spreads across the internet and even the bbc and sky are talking about it and it does start to seep in. I have spent far too much time online tbh, reading the news and theories but sometimes you just feel you want to know. I got a bit worried one night and kept going on about it and my husband threatened to cut off the internet...I need the occasional online shopping fix so I couldn’t let that happen 😄 I don’t know, some of the theories seem crazy, some not so much but these are just really bizarre times and if we weren’t in lockdown I wouldn’t spend so much time online. I do need to be more mindful of what I read but when you’re bored...😬xx

Absolutely, I’m in the same boat but I read these stupid CTs almost like aversion therapy, facing my fears and rationalising them with facts and evidence (learned in CBT, I didnt think at the time it was much use but it’s been a lifesaver this year!)

That’s what I have to do now, I get my husband to debunk things for me! I don’t always trust my own intelligence, I’m not stupid but I can be naive and tend to believe that everyone is generally good so that’s kind of made me question if I could be too blind to see what’s happening according to the theorists. I need to stay away from it it’s not like there’s much I could do if they were right anyway is there! To be clear it was only the vaccine passport stuff that made me think oh! and worry. Can’t say that it doesn’t worry me even if it’s nothing to do with any global elite but I can also see how it makes sense in a pandemic.

They also use language and certain terminology that makes you feel inferior in your intelligence/understanding, like they'll refer to things you've never heard of in a way that you feel inadequate for not having heard of it and, before long, you can almost start to believe in their hype.
Yet if you stick around long enough you realise they are just regurgitating buzzwords and phrases they have heard from their supposed "research" and, if questioned on it, they can't break it down into an explainable and coherent explanation.
It's so manipulative, a form of coercive control even.

Yes that’s true I do see that. I’m looking to the people I know and trust in real life and I hate to say it but the only two people I know who believe any of this, one is always high on weed and the other isn’t particularly full of common sense, whereas the people I know who have been to uni and have jobs that require a good amount of intelligence don’t buy into any of it. I hate saying that because I’m not trying to generalise about people who believe one way or another but that is my own personal experience which in my circle says a lot.

I read that when Trump left the white house, on one of the qanon forums, the person basically said "bye suckers" and hasn't updated since. The same way that Trump ended his final speech with "have a nice life." 😂.
Apparently the person who ran that forum made loads of money from the members. I bet originally someone made up the qanon thing as a joke and is now laughing to the bank with all the insane merch that's made.

Yes i read they think the child is a doll 😆😆

In the exact same way the crazy Louis/Harry One Direction shippers think Louis' kid is a robot baby.

And Benedict Cumberbatch's rabbit obsessives think his kid is a robot baby.

And the two straight, married actors from the cult show Supernatural, who are secretly in love, according to their manic fans, are also fathers to robot babies.

THE STEPFORD BABIES!!!! 😂
