They do get a bad rap and shouldn't. They are very popular in Florida for the retirement community and can be an economical way to live.

Alice is only famous because of how she handled this divorce and how she made it so public and untoward. That's it. Almost no one had heard her name before this hit the tabloids. I know I hadn't. No one I personally know here in LA had every heard of her.
She's a former actress who played small TV parts and did a few movies years ago. She was only really known for being the bawdy wife of Ioan Gruffudd and ex companion of Picasso.
She's only able to sell stories to the DM and the like because of her marriage to her ex. So she keeps this going publicly to try and get more scandalous headlines and ensure her name is out there.
Negative press? No worries. As long as she's paid or gets those donations.
Abuse for profit is how I see it.

My sister's ex moved to France so he didn't have to pay CS. He is a true deadbeat though, unlike Ioan. I believe Ioan should be paying CS for the girls but I also think Alice needs to be getting a job. There are zero excuses.
