The people in those threads are nowhere near as hateful, and don’t treat me like I’m some idiot for not hating them lol but it’s all good. You do you
I don’t know if you’re being a deliberate troll (trying to give you the benefit of the doubt) but no one is being hateful. You stated your POV and asked a question. People on here backed it up with facts and the reason why the advent calendar and the £1 challenge was such a big deal despite you thinking otherwise.

I don’t think we are being too harsh about two people who pretend to work hard but really don’t do much for the amount of money they’re paid for. Or the fact they constantly belittle their fans or rarely do fan meet and greets. Very little engagement on their part. Tons of excuses as to why they are late with uploading or don’t post for over a month or years on their main channel. Refusing to follow the CMA/ASA guidelines properly. If there is one redeemable thing about Zalfie then please do let us know bc we have yet to see it. Trust me these two are not the hill you want to die on.

What Zoe was involved in is probably worse, but Alfie is just so gratingly unpleasant that it's more difficult to move past that dislike. The video could have been worse, much worse, but he was just so absolutely ridiculous...I think the part I remember best was when he said like three or four different times how hungry he was and how he'd just been working out with his trainer. Did he want a prize?

I've seen reality TV contestants who have said the most terrible things, said things like how they give homeless people fake money for a joke, and they still had lots of fans, because they were charismatic or interesting or attractive enough or easy to relate to. Alfie is none of those things. He isn't charismatic, he isn't interesting, he isn't attractive, he isn't relateable.

He's very lucky he's had the career he's had because he just offers nothing.

He witches and moans EVERY time he’s uploading a video. For God’s SAKE!

Here’s my theory, maybe he’s trying to be like Shane Dawson, who kept pushing back the release date of his conspiracy video due to editing (and legalities), and perhaps Alfie is trying to replicate that, maybe thinking it builds suspense for his audience ?
In actuality it just pisses people off.

I hate when he constantly says he’s going to do something and never does. cringgge

Alfie’s been doing a lot of saying not not actually a lot of doing a lot over the past couple years.Hes made so many false promises, you can almost guarantee his ideas will never materialise

The advent calendar thing. Zoe seemed like she used the not having pricing control as an excuse, she didn’t seem overly sorry. And she just went AWOL instead. But for someone who always says she is really involved in her products, for her to sudddenly not be doesn’t add up to me.

Alfie’s £1 challenge. He described his glass of tap water as an empty glass of water because normally he drinks water from his filter machine. He also went on a shopping spree for other stuff at the same time, so not living on £1 and really jarred with the whole point of the video. And he also got a massive box of Krispy Kreme donuts for free by going I’m Alife Deyes can I have some freebies. The whole tone of the video was really wrong.

Not to mention his personal trainer session, going to MnS with his girlfriends card, him googling "free food in Brighton," and whinging that Brighton is expensive and it'd be easier in other places.

And for Zoe, she is a lying piece of tit. A company selling a product doesn't just make up a price. They use the MSRP which litcherally stands for manufacture suggested retail price a la Zoe "scamming piece of tit" Sugg.

And drove with his land rover into Brighton easily around £5 alone in fuel and parked in their private car park spot.

He had no desire to actually work for a meal or get a couple of quid. Should have been knocking on cafe doors offering his services or something rather than just blagging freebies for nothing.

thinking back to the time he excitedly unboxed his digital subscriber counter device in the office of their old place.
ha I forgot about that. Mr I don't care about the numbers doesn't use his light up sign to show the falling subs ?

I don’t really post in Zoe/Alfie threads, I’m an occasional viewer, don’t really love them but I’m not really hate watching either. I mostly watch when Joe is in their videos.

Anyways, I don’t really get the big deal over the calendar or £1 challenge. I know a lot of people don’t like them for plenty of reasons, and are probably glad to see them get backlash, fair enough. But is there actual legitimate reasons they got dragged so hard? Or is it just their popularity and people loving to hate them?

As far as I know, Zoe didn’t have control over the pricing, and probably had to pick between different items to put in the calendar (as in, it wasn’t her idea for the glitter but someone told her “you can have glitter or a tiny thing of bubbles, which do you want?”) so she was involved a little but not totally her idea from top to bottom.

With the £1 Challenge (I watched it, but don’t remember it lol) people were mad that he used things like water from his kitchen sink? So wasn’t technically one pound? I mean, I just saw it as a fun challenge. Seeing if he could get around and find food with only a pound. I think some people took it way more offensively than they needed to, and he’s one out of a million other YouTubers that did the same thing. Sure, some did it more realistically and were making a video focused on poverty. But Alfie wasn’t?

No hate or shade to anyone here, I don’t care if people hate them lol and I’m not trying to sound like a defensive fan girl. I’d honestly just like some info on all this because both topics come up a lot with them.
Did all the other ones who did it go and buy a new earring, t-shirts, beard comb and pizza for Zoe and say 'that didn't count as his £1' - or get a dozen free doughnuts because of who he was and take them all home to his rich girlfriend when he could have shared them with homeless people.

The water was special filtered water - Alf don't just drink tap water

He's a boring knob... he's just put an Insta story up of him sat in the car putting on his sunglasses?. No speaking, just him thinking he looks cool??. Does he think everyone is going to get exited by this???. Total twonk. ?
Them driving to the office at almost midday, another busy day of back to back "meetings" ;)

Zoe it's not too late to back out
