Aldi & Lidl #7

It might not be the biggest annoyance I will get today but just opened a pack of Aldi softest toilet rolls. They are now 12 double sized rolls instead of 24 so the pack is not so bulky but the damn things will not fit in any of my toilet roll stands and they fall off the radiator when I try to balance them on there so now stuck with the rolls on the floor. Getting on my nerves already. 😊

I always buy my toilet roll from Lidl, 24 pack but this last lot definitely feels different, rougher, thinner..... I'm not happy at all!

Has anyone managed to get hold of the Aldi pistachio crème?
My local had them yesterday. I think they must have just stocked that morning as there were full boxes with all 3 flavours. Located on the Christmas foods aisle - which in my store is opposite all of the biscuits / chocolates.

I have to admit I had to really look closely because you’d almost miss them. They don’t stand out at all.

Is there a way out of Lidl when you don't buy anything? I went in yesterday, they didn't have what I wanted so I tried to go through an empty checkout - no luck - gate wasn't for budging. The 2 checkouts in operation were in full flow with long queues and I didn't fancy trying to squeeze past all those trolleys, so I went back to the entrance, waited for someone to enter, and walked out that way ... and the alarms went off. o_O

Thief!!!!!!

Kidding lol. Depends on Lidl I think. Some have self service check outs so that's the best way unless it's one where they introduced the gates with receipt scanning. Or I'd just squeeze past people in an open till queue.

If I'm feeling particularly socially awkward that day I'd just buy something to avoid the whole situation but that's just me 🤣

Music update if anyone's interested 🤣 My Lidl has put the music back on with something that resembles a 'Lidl Heart fm' mix with 20 year old hits from Texas, Black eyes Peas and George Michael interwoven with Xmas songs 😬
God, I'm sorry to hear that 🤣

In ours you can walk through the self checkouts.
As demonstrated by 2 drug users/ alcoholics who were shoplifting armfuls of beef roasting joints last week, you can also seemingly walk out via the entrance even if no ones coming in, by pushing slightly on the gates.

Thief!!!!!!

:ROFLMAO: Mind you, I did check umpteen times to make sure I hadn't picked something else up and forgotten about it. Then I made a big point of looking up at the cameras with outstretched open palms, pantomime shrugging shoulders and what I hope was an innocent looking face. No self-serve checkouts in that particular store to sneak through, unforch.

Anyway ... no cops at the door yet so I must've got away with it, but gotta say, this bottle of Prosecco that must've fallen into the hood of the child's buggy is rather delish. Hic! ;)

I went in recently to drop a child's present off in one of the charity bins, only you can't. I had to do a circuit of the store and had put it back in my bag. Even though I picked up a few items and went through the till I was sweating that the security guard would have pounced on me on the way out.
Next time I'll try not to do it when I'm tired and see if I can see the security guard and ask him to put it in the charity bin. He'll probably say no though. 🙄

This is my stress with my local Lidl too, we don’t have self service so can’t pass through there so just have to ask people in the queue if they’ll let me squeeze past which is enough to put me off going tbh 😂

I got stopped by security in Aldi a couple of months ago and he was shouting at me to come back in the shop as the alarm had gone off - I couldn't get past the people coming out so he continued to shout at me, it was so embarrasing as everybody at the checkouts were looking at me. When I got back in he accused me of stealing half a bottle of vodka and some tuna and was raising his voice at me to get them out of my bag. The man who works the self serve came running up and apologised to me and told him it was ok but the security guard just walked off and never said a word. The manger said that the security guy was new and he apologised and I told him if I was going shoplifting I would do in Marks and Spencers down the road. Not seen the security guard since and can only hope he got sacked.

Have Lidl stopped doing bakery specials now? Haven’t been in for ages so I wasn’t sure, website hasn’t shown anything for a while.
