I think you have hit the nail on the head. Same with birthday parties. Too many sweets etc in the house afterwards. It'll be another way for her to control all situations and them getting sweets
It's giving a repeat of forgetting her dad's birthdayShe's now replying to people with sad faces saying she doesn't understand halloween, didn't realise they'd be missing out and mum guilt has hit hard.. wanting people to feel sorry for her
What sort of sheltered childhood did she have herself if she didn't know how it works?Saying she thought that you go into peoples houses and she didn’t know how trick or treating worked? Wtf. What a lame excuse. Everyone knows how it works If your street is in darkness I’m sure there’s local ones nearby that go a bit more all out that they couldn’t taken the kids to. No point saying you’ve got mum guilt now because you got comments saying the opposite and not agreeing with you.
I’m sure she’ll be in local Facebook groups that were talking about trick or treating plans for kids so she’d have been aware.

She just sucks the joy out of everything. They’re too young and now she’s saying she didn’t know how it worked. Trick or treating/guising has been around for generations, how can you not know how it works?! Poor kids, I hope they at least had a school disco or something to look forward to . Ailsa strikes me as the type that will tell them that Santa isn’t real when she deems them ‘too old’ to believe
