Just finished S2 after watching S1 a few weeks ago and loved both of them. Gervais is actually pretty talented when he tries properly!
All the S2 scenes with the therapist seemed like padding/filler and were just annoying. As if anyone would keep going to a therapist like that day after day or week after week. You'd just not go any more especially if you were having to pay.
Also thought the nurse storyline dragged on a bit. And how come she seems to be the sole carer at the care home. Only once I think was there a corridor glance that showed a different nurse. She seemed to be singlehandedly running the place 24 hours a day!
I did like seeing both Peter Egan (newspaper owner) and Penelope Wilton (park bench lady) in it. For anyone old enough to remember Ever Decreasing Circles on TV in the 80s and how the two of them were in that, it was a really nice touch to see the pair of them reunited in a new show.
