Couldn't agree more, the "Disney" scene is dead, and I haven't see one vlogger do anything original since pre-pandemic, the reason being, nothing has changed in WDW since Star Wars land and GotG Cosmic rewind, other than everything is 10x more expensive and all the perks have been removed.

I watched "Cheers Ears" after their link up with Adam... Christ! What a personality-less family, couldn't watch more than 5 minutes. But it confirmed that Disney vlogging is dead, regardless of whether you're an established vlogger or part timers, its the same regurgitated content, which is now far less relatable due to the much higher cost!

Disney is now out of the price range of most normal* families.

*average wage earners

I admit I started watching the vlogs for an upcoming trip to WDW that happened last year and it cost an arm and 50 legs. Booked before covid I got less for my money as time ticked on 🤦🏼‍♀️ with the opening of Epic Universe in a few years it'll be telling.

I assume they are planning a trip to WDW again in April for TRON.

I just wish Vloggers were transparent with how they financed their trips. I don't believe it's funded by YouTube and crappy guidebooks,

(Adam's social blade tops out at £11.5k per year, so even if he's making £10k in books a year (lets be honest, no one is buying an unofficial guide in great numbers), he is making just over £20k per year...)
  • Inheritance?
  • Credit Card?
  • Loan?
  • Gifted?
  • Bank of mummy and daddy?
I have no issues if Twattan is being funded by mummy and daddy, its their money and if they are that well off then that's up to them! It's a privilege that many wish they had. Sure, people would be envious of the spoilt little brat, but there are plenty of people living off the bank of mum and dad, at least it reveals how he affords to go every couple of months and also put down £30k for DVC.

Sophie and Dave have managed 2 Disney trips in the last 6 months (DLP and WDW), however, on the surface, one is an unemployed actor and the other is an unemployed, unqualified teacher who has a bad go at selling Disney tat online.

The Despicable 3 funded it off a Tesco Delivery Driver wage 🤷‍♀️ (I didn't watch much of them, but that was the rumour).

There are some smaller vloggers that actually document how they afford it, savings tips etc. They're usually a hard working couple, or one at least one half that makes bank. That's relatable content!

If your parents pay your rent, fund an office rental and you also have an allowance, maybe income from a trust (wild fantasy stuff for me but I went to college with people who has trusts from their grandparents which paid out a few grand a month) then Youtube+Merch is all play money for travel.

Sadly, (because I am an old dreamer at heart) just about everyone I knew with a cool job when I was living in London (writing, acting, musician, interior design, artist) had family money, inheritance and parents bought them property/paid rent. Sure there are a few exceptions but they proved the rule.

The ones who seem very modest and average Joe could also have a paid off house, an inheritance or credit cards and credit union. Like Mark I know people in debt they'll never get out of. They just pay the minimums and don't think about it too much. It's all holidays, clothes and 'Christmases'
---

My own holidays are funded with painstaking saving. Every pay day I transfer money into savings. It's small and steady and I hope that I won't need car repairs or a root canal or some flipping thing that will set me back. There's no amount of skipping coffees that will suddenly transfer 000s into my account. That's why I do gasp sometimes at what some of them call a budget trip (usually their 5th of the year) Can't imagine how long it would take most families to save for one let alone those 'cheeky upgrades' that cost a week wages per person 😂

There was a time in my life where I realised all my friends who weren’t still living at home, had their parents pay their rent in London. i knew a girl who was 35, her parents still paid her rent in London zone 2, because her YT income was not enough.
I don’t know what’s worse; being a Gary or being an Adam. At least Gary knows he is a duck up though. A lot of the ‘adams’ still see themselves as successful and above everyone else.

I had a similar situation in my last job. As the cost of living hit and prices started to rise about a year ago, I was the head of a department and was pretty much breaking even financially so was looking at where to make cutbacks in my day-to-day spending.

Meanwhile, one of our receptionists was maybe 2 or 3 years younger than me and always living it large when it came to things she’d buy, things she’d do etc. We were friendly and I sat besides her whilst she was flathunting one day and she was booking viewings for things that were a good £200 a month above my price range. Then one of the other receptionists left and the advertised salary was way below anything I was being paid - it was a mystery to me how my friend could live alone in a 1 bed flat in a decent London postcode on a similar salary. She was obviously having her rent paid by her parents (who seem relatively “comfortable”).

Simultaneously, there was another colleague with a similar job to mine who seemed sorted (mortgage, long term live-in partner with a decent job too) but broke down one day and revealed they were in significant debt.

This is a very long way of saying that you never know what is going on with someone else’s personal finances. 2 years ago, I’d have felt the need to compare myself to someone like Adam but I now realise that not all is what it seems. I very much doubt that his parents are paying for everything and he probably does bring in more than we think through his various revenue streams, but we will probably never know.

Twattan's bank of mummy and daddy annots me vecause he would always allude to his 'business' being like a multinational conglomerate and his views being the most watched this on youtube!

Its plain to see that the 'business' failed and mummy and daddy put the brakes on it.

Stop petedning Twattan.......and stop people a narcissitc, spoiled, self-absorbed twit!

Despicable 3 to me seems like a completely normal, intelligent working family that just prioritizes experiences very high, and saves up for them throughout the year. They don't live a lavish lifestyle, and nor are their trips ridiculous. They're usually budget friendly, and speak openly about it in their videos. It's not like Adam at all.

I don't mind the lack of disclosure too much. It gives us something to tattle about, and I don't think anyone is entitled to a full look into somebody's finances.

However, it is odd that Disney content creators like Adam have no problems sharing just about every other part of their life, but when it comes to talking about how to finance what would be considered an extremely lavish lifestyle, there is suddenly not even a hint of information provided.

It's the same with some airline reviewers I watch, I love the ones that put the price of their trips in the video, because it varies so much. When I see somebody flying first class, I assume it's super expensive - but then they explain they used points, and used some obscure itinerary to get the price down to a much more reasonable level, and it all starts to make sense.

Yup my big hack is start in the EU. Fly AMS or DUB-LHR-USA and the cost (especially for business) drops dramatically. You need a cheap Ryanair flight to get to and from Dublin and it's not for everyone but certainly for some people it's the only way to get into Business/First. Spoonfulofsugar did it a few times. The reviewers do it all the time. The Orlando vloggers are only pulling our legs when they do so many trips and say 'cheap upgrade' or 'credit cards' This is not the USA where you get miles thrown at your by CCs and upgrades are on top of an upgradable fare so they are never 'cheap'

This is so true. We went to South East Asia in summer and went via Brussels with a cheap Ryanair to Brussels then Thai out and Emirates back. We paid 800 each for return flights vs 1800 each from UK. Makes a huge difference in price.

I’m obviously going wrong somewhere in my life if these 2 have managed to go away AGAIN and to fly upper class AGAIN!!

TBH Adam would be incredibly stupid not to have the Virgin Atlantic Credit Card with the amount he spends with them. He will have some level of status with them - which means that once a year he can do a 'Buy one get one free style deal with them - cash or points' where he would only have to pay the taxes. Its been really easy to get silver as the tier points dropped and were carried over during covid..

We did this and got 2 premium tix to Orlando and for just under £900. We only have red - so we wernt able to get uppr.
  1. If you spend £10,000 or more on card purchases over 12 months, you’ll earn a reward. You can only earn one reward every 12 months. The 12 months resets on each anniversary of the date your Virgin Atlantic Reward+ Credit Card account was opened.
  2. Your choice depends on whether you’re a Red, Silver or Gold Flying Club member when you choose it. So if you’re a Red member when you earn your reward but a Silver member when you choose, you’ll get the Silver choices.
  3. You can choose a reward from:
    • Companion Reward Ticket.Take one person with you in a reward seat:
      • If you’re a Silver or Gold member when you book the companion reward seat won’t cost any points.
      • If you’re a Red member when you book, the companion seat won’t cost any points in Economy Classic and Premium, or you'll pay 50% of the points needed for a standard Upper Class Companion Reward.
    • Upgrade Voucher. Upgrade any booking by one cabin into a reward seat. Available to all tiers.
    • Clubhouse Pass. (Silver and Gold Flying Club members only). For one person to use in any Clubhouse worldwide when flying with Virgin Atlantic, Delta or AFKL International. No additional guests can be permitted. If you’re a Gold member, you’ll get two passes.

Put this in the Gary C thread by mistake

'Please shag me, pretty pretty please'

That Kieran was in one of their videos before and (from what I can remember) was very “nice but not engaging enough for a vlog”.

He was very withdrawn and… pleasant. Other than Disney, he didn’t seem to have much in common with Adam (and especially Gary).

Yup! But, of course, I also don't mind when creators go "I paid a fuckton for this - because it's my job, and I enjoy it, and I've been blessed to be in a situation to do it" Transparency is so damn underrated.

Gary has a Insta story up and you can see that they're in Upper coming home too - Wonder if they'll go back to economy now or what will be the big thing to try to extract clickbait footage from Gary. A stopover at the Ritz? A luxury villa? They've nearly done all the Disney related luxuries - Upper, Club, Grand Flo, DVC..

A villa? They'd have to hire a car...can you imagine!!! 🤣 (or they'd spend a fortune on ubers)
