These carers are so exploitive of this severely disabled teenager. How has no one seriously reported them to the council
They won’t care as Mia’s basic needs are met - she’s fed and housed and isn’t being physically abused or neglected. Which is heartbreaking but SS are absolutely decimated they have to focus on actual abuse and neglect (despite the fact Mia’s being exploited).
I am just glad Mia gets to go to school and has those opportunities because she’s so hindered by those awful “carers” and “nana”.

I wonder if the carer’s allowance pays for “nana” to have all those tattoos, she practically lives at the tattoo place. Always wanting yet another piercing and scribble tattoo, she must be bored shitless with nothing else to fill her days. I’m saying this as someone with piercings and a tattoo!

She gets paid for being a foster carer (Mia is not the only foster child she has)

She has also said before she gets 'direct payments' which means the council pay Mia's entire care budget to an account ran by Hev to distribute where needed and is how she pays for the 2 carers.

Because makes sure she does overnights alone with Mia more than once a week she has ensured she also qualifies as a carer so is entitled to pay herself a wage out of the direct payments.

Which will come to alot more than carers allowance which is only like £60 a week and one of the lowest benefits

Even if it pays for her to have her tattoos she’s saving the council an absolute tit ton by looking after Mia to be fair. The type of residential care Mia would need would cost thousands a week and there’s no way her Nan is getting anywhere near that.

Another reason why social services won’t care, Mia is getting her basic needs met and in an area as deprived as where she lives (I live here too) they don’t have the time or funds to investigate further especially not when someone is saving them that much money.

Also residential care is often not a bed of roses - chances are fairly high that at best Mia would spend a significant portion of her days in front of an iPad just like she is and in all likelihood her basic needs wouldn’t be as met as they are now. Is what her Nan is doing ideal? No. Is it worthy of criticism? Absolutely. Is it better than her being treated the same or worse in care in a placement miles away from everyone she knows? Almost certainly.

I do agree about the residential care, while not brilliant at least she’s got interaction and gets to see different things where she is. Plus seeing familiar faces every day, instead of carers maybe changing regularly. I just can’t believe how much money Nana has for tatts, piercings and botox!

She has a lot of kids, think a lot of them are fostered, has 35 grandkids apparently 😳

They’ve admitted they are giving her too many iPads - what a shocker. Those carers are a disgrace and are getting paid for it. Any time they are called out they say things like you don’t know what looking after a special needs child is like. She needs the 2 iPads to be stimulated. It’s wild, surely they know there are other forms of stimulation and not just the iPad which conveniently give them a break
