2024 US Election #3

A judge has blocked it for review as it’s been claimed the auction wasn’t conducted fairly (implying it was fixed for The Onion to win the bid). The judge has said he’s “not comfortable” with it and wants it looking into properly.

Many like to wail about xenophobia or whatever, but ignore the elephant in the room that high immigration is a Ponzi scheme. It masks a weak underlying economy by allowing piss poor governments to quote top line figures because more people = notional growth.

That's what Canada has been doing . There has been massive immigration over the last few years . The country doesn't have the resources to accommodate the number of people here now, jobs, housing health care etc. The government has only recently belatedly decided to reduce the numbers admitting that it was ill conceived. In the past year alone the population has increased by 3%.

They also allow huge numbers of temporary foreign workers in claiming that they're needed when that's only because companies get government subsidies for hiring them . Then there's an increase of 3 million non permanent residents- mostly foreign students that equates to a 7% population increase.
The country has the highest immigration in the world relative to population.

Many of the foreign students attend diploma mills and are often working full time .
The unemployment rate is now at 7%.

Immigration on this scale is an absolute scam, and is a transfer of public (tax) wealth to corporations. I feel sorry for immigrants because they’re subject to the ire of being given “free stuff” but it’s a drop in the ocean compared to what big business is getting on the industry that immigration creates.

Also worth noting that many government officials, at all levels, have personal portfolios that include investments in property developers and land.

Best bit is that it’s fiercely defended by SJWs who zone in on the xenophobic aspect and completely ignore the fact that as a result, assets are flowing away from everyday Joe to the top % wealthiest.

As I said, progressives really are the biggest capitalists.

There never was a shortage of workers in Canada like they claimed, there was a shortage of employers paying enough to live off. This mass immigration has made everything so much worse. The only ones to benefit are those right at the top who can take advantage of those willing to work for tit wages and live in tit conditions.

I always thought I'd move back to Canada and leave here, but can't see that happening anymore.

The average house price in Vancouver is $1.2 million now, and many at that average price look like a crack den.

Elections there next year.

The country is a mess is every conceivable way.
I certainly wouldn't recommend anyone move here now.
I have dual citizenship and was brought up in the UK and lived in Europe before moving to Canada so I have a good perspective on how things compare.
I remember when I lived in the UK moaning about the NHS (as did everyone) but the healthcare system here is so so much worse . Everything's hugely expensive , the economy is weak and we have high unemployment. There's no sign on the horizon that anything will get better anytime soon.

I think people living in other countries have this positive image of Canada that is very far from reality.

Trudeau's hanging on by his fingernails determined to make it to the election next November. His approval rating is in the toilet- I believe the worst of any PM in history. People here are eager for an election (have been for at least 2 years) to vote him out. His party is likely to drop to 3rd party status when we finally go to the polls.

Totally agree. The rapid decline over the last 5 or so years has been so depressing to watch. I've lived in the UK for a few years (longer than I planned to with covid) so have an idea of life over there. Canada used to have such a high quality of life, I used to rave about the healthcare and now it's so much worse than the NHS (the worst healthcare in Western Europe as people refuse to reform it and carry on pretending it's still the 50s).

I'm eligible for citizenship by descent, was always planning on getting it (have to stay x days in y years) and living there but that isn't happening as the problems they've created will take decades to improve under a decent government.

Canada has gone from difficult to live in, to impossible.

You do realise there is a thing called legal immigration? How has Biden flooding the country this past four years helped anyone? It’s even pissed off democrats and a lot of people who have done it the right way.

Illegal immigration is not a purely Biden or democrat issue. The US government have let it happen for decades because it was economically profitable to exploit undocumented workers with no rights instead of having a functioning legal immigration system. That's how you end up with illegal immigrants who have lived and worked in the US for decades, have a family and kids born here. Those situations arenot accidental but a feature of the immigration system in the US.

Legal immigration is lenghty and costly - which if you have a well-paid occupation might be worth to go through. But for low-skilled people the system is just impossible. But american companies and farms are welcoming with open arm those illegal low skilled immigrants. Somehow they are rarely targeted by anti-immigration politicians even though by not having stringent immigrant status checks they incentivize people to immigrate illegally to the US. This definitely not a bug but designed to work this way.

The NHS does need reform, but reform to reduce all the money which is being siphoned off into the privatised sections which didn’t exist in the 50s.

I would still take it over the American system whereby thousands go into bankruptcy every year because of medical bills though.

That's comparing two of the worst healthcare systems in the West. Pretty much everywhere else in Western Europe has a better model.

The US system is great, but only if you have good insurance.

It’s interesting you say this, my friend lives there with her dad who is ex military, earned a fortune as a contractor when he left and so has excellent private insurance. He had what they suspect was a mini stroke about a month ago but a CT scan didn’t show anything. She is worn down with all the hoops she has had to go through to get him medical help. Although he has started physical therapy already their specialist referral is for December 2025.

Going off on a slight tangent, but does anyone else feel very nervous that we are on the cusp of something that's going to change everything forever?

I've just been reading some rumours about the Southport murders and what's being covered up. Farage has outright said there's a cover up in an interview tonight. Musk is constantly sniping at UK Labour government. Musk and Farage rumoured to have had a meeting during the US election run up and many 'secrets' spilled.

I feel trepidation on a lot of fronts - I believe Western economies were dead after the subprime catastrophe in 2008 and the can has been kicked down the road. Well, it would seem we're now out of road and we've had a million distractions thrown at us to hide it. I think Western leaders KNOW where the power and wealth is now and the opening up to immigration from the BRICS and BRICS influenced regions is a last wealth and asset scrape before corporations and bureaucrats turn their back and go East, leaving us unable to rebuild.

I also think the lid is about to be blown off all the corruption, criminality and brutality of our "democratic" benevolent leaders over the years.

Rise and fall of civilisations. At least we have a front row seat. 👀

There's no secret, it's all perfectly obvious. They're inciting culture wars and racial / religious hatred. The less people pay attention to them, the better, but sadly there's a lot of stupid people in the world.
It is interesting times indeed though, front row seat to the cruelty and brutality which accompanies the end of an empire.

I don't think it's that... I think they're after pulling down the government.

Yep, pretty much.
Anything that begins with the words “Farage said…” is bound to be a galloping pile of rabble rousing, racist bollocks.

The US system is great, but only if you have good insurance.

Some states are really suffering with staffing and therefore offering adequate care. Even with great insurance you can wait 8+ months to see a specialist. In the state I live in, finding a primary care doctor is near on impossible with waiting lists to get on waiting lists, and people waiting another 6+ months to see a GP. My partner had an appointment with a specialist which was cancelled, and was told the new appointment is in ten months despite them needing an appointment way before then. It's pretty ridiculous. I would not even dare to use my local hospital which is the biggest in the state, and would choose to drive 90 minutes out of state to feel more reassured about the quality of care. All hospitals in the state are in jeopardy and crippling under the costs to exist. I am sure this not exclusive to one state, and therefore the US system is also very deeply broken.

We’ll see. On this occasion I’m pretty sure he’s not talking about race and there’s evidence floating round (of course could be doctored rubbish). He’s lining up shots that, if rumours are true, will cause devastation in current government and undermine the UK justice and parliamentary systems.

Starmer was a human rights lawyer, yes?

I’m on the outside looking in so I can’t say I know him well but his name is popping up a lot more on international news these days as immigration becomes a worldwide issue. He has a lot to say about the subject. This is the longest I’ve heard him talk though and he seems quite articulate, he wants immigrants that assimilate and share a sense of belonging and appreciation no matter what their colour or religion. He doesn’t exactly sound like a raging racist and the concerns he raises are real concerns that almost every country faces these days. I can understand why he’s getting more popular based on this interview, I haven’t seen his nutty stuff though but I’ve heard he’s a bit bonkers.

He has incorrectly identified crimes to have been committed by illegal immigrants which has led to rioting and burning of property. He is an odious racist who blames “others” for things that are nothing to do with them and sells the narrative that they are to blame rather than a government who doesn’t care about people who are struggling.

Are you serious? Of course he’s a racist. Why do you think so many other racists like him?
Have a look at this.

ETA - and he’s not “a bit bonkers”. He’s extremely calculating, and every time he lies he knows exactly what he’s doing.
