People can have very different opinions on issues like abortion and none of them are wrong. They just see the issues from different perspectives. Its like some people have literally no ability to respect another’s right to hold a different opinion. I guess that’s why they end up spending their days in echo chambers.

That’s true, but at some point, regarding some issues. someone has to say; you are entitled to your opinion, but this is what’s happening and you don’t have the right to impose your opinion on others just because you have the loudest voice. (Any Brit who has ever seen Carole Malone on pretty much anything will understand what I mean here)

There are also those who believe their opinions are in fact, facts.

Yes, sometimes Science gets things wrong, and further study will refine the way we approach things. It’s OK to change your opinion based on new information, thank goodness, I’ve often done it myself, but some people are never going to change their opinions because their opinions are literally who they are.

I always think, I respect your opinion, but please respect my right to ignore it. X

Edited to add: I will question some people on their opinions, and I don’t mind people questioning mine, I actually genuinely do want to understand where they are coming from sometimes. Very few of my closest friends have my political leanings but I still think they are good people, and they don’t see it as an attack when I question their opinions.

I am fine with it. As long as anti-abortion people don't impose their views on me but when they work on enacting bans I feel like it goes further than what they feel wrong for themselves but forcing their beliefs on others.
This is exactly it 👆 not wanting others to impose their views on you (or others) somehow = not respecting their views 🤔

In that case, yes I do not respect someone else’s view that they have a say over my body. Or that I shouldn’t work in a profession and should only be permitted to be a homemaker, deferring to my husband whilst popping out all his children (whether I want them or not, is irrelevant).

Yes it’s true that if someone holds views like that, I have zero respect for those views. Don’t impose on me, like I won’t impose on you. That would be respect

I wonder if the Dems are going to learn from this whole experience because they can’t use the same methods next time.

I doubt it. The party is busy blaming everyone but themselves including the voters. Aside from it being Kamala and Biden's fault it's the fault of white women, misogynistic black men and latinos, MAGA fascists and racists. The majority of Americans have been tricked by misinformation, they are uneducated and incapable of understanding what's best for them.

Since the media is now reporting on Trump ‘going after’ his ‘enemies’ which include Obama and Nancy Pelosi, what do you guys think this will actually mean in reality?

It’s quite frightening that the media are reporting on the next POTUS planning revenge as if that is a normal thing for them to do. Which is of course motivated by his narcissistic injury.

I think you first need to note which news agencies are reporting that and rationale the tone.

Like it or not, one thing I do particularly agree with Musk & Trump is that there is inaccurate and incendiary reporting from political leaning in legacy media. It stands to reason, they’re businesses and they feed into their market’s bias to keep themselves afloat.

I agree - a lot of them seem to regard Joe Rogan as a maga loving boogeyman who is spouting hate speech or something which is pretty far removed from how the show works. Like you don't have to agree with everything he says or like him much personally but this kind of aversion to any sort of PR that could reach a massive audience is working against them. Like did people forget that Bernie Sanders went on the show some years ago too? He's not exactly the poster boy for MAGA 😂 It's like they think that the mere association with anyone who isn't part of their political tribe will taint then or something. A successful campaign is about building coalitions not just confirmation bias from members of your own tribe.
I don't really listen to the podcast but I remember Dr Sam Harris back in 2016 on Making Sense saying he'd made some analogy on Trump on the JRE so I thought Rogan wasn't necessarily pro Trump? I know as an interviewer he wants a variety of people anyway so it's about the 'scoop' rather than his views.

Trump has been on record, ie on camera many times saying it in no uncertain terms well before the election.

Sometimes medications older people are on can affect cognition even if they are not suffering from dementia. If they stop the medication cognition improves
Yeah a lot of drugs for the vascular and heart system particularly blood pressure reducing drugs can affect cognition etc. if blood isn't pumped to the brain as fast.

It is quite hilarious that you cheered it on for four years but would now be horrified they would perhaps get the same treatment done back to them.

I have only ever seen clips of him, and yes, due to algorithms based on people i follow and interact with on various SM, it will be selected clips. I’ve not read his book but he does seem to have a very old fashioned and chauvinistic view towards women’s roles. Does he have some unresolved anger towards his mother do you think?
He says it's his Roman Catholic coverted faith - he's for the process of reproduction and doesn't like antinatalism and childfree movements.

I wasn’t aware of that. I’ve just googled to see if I could find what you’re referring to and couldn’t (there’s a lot of Trump stuff to wade through 😂). Do you have a link at all please?

Here’s one example. Trump used to say that success would be his revenge, but at some point the rhetoric changed.

This is a long podcast to listen to but it does cover some of the reasons for the Harris economy being better. I was neutral on Harris or Trump being better for the economy so I voted for a third candidate anyway but listening to this on Wednesday 7th over lunch at work was depressing.

Politico has reported on it most recently. Apparently, Politico is described as ‘centrist’. No such thing as unbiased media in any situation of course. But I’m also sick of people screaming fake news.

Trump is nothing if not unpredictable but I tend to listen to what Americans have to say about this sort of thing and some of them say they feel they are being prepared for this to be normal president behaviour in the future. Perhaps in the future terms as well. Gentlemanly presidents in America have permanently given way to disrupters.

Rogan is like many people today - thought of themselves as liberal, progressive left-of centre. But as the Left has moved further towards the Far Left and progressivism actually became regressive (eg anti man, anti white people, anti-semitic, anti free speech, anti meritocracy etc etc) then people like Joe no longer identify as Left - and will vote for people like Trump because they oppose far leftist ideas

So the left is right and the right is left?
