Would you take drugs with your work colleagues?

Absolutely not. I wouldn't be seen drunk in front of them either (although I will have a few drinks if we go out -I just make sure I know when to stop). Totally undermines your credibility and whilst I do have some lovely work friendships, I'm always mindful of the fact that they are also colleagues.
 
I don’t take drugs, but I’m not ignorant to how normal it is to some people.

My older brother smoked cannabis for years, he ended up with psychosis and was sectioned for four years. He now has a diagnosis of schizophrenia.

My older half sister, her and her partner have smoked weed for years. She’s had to go to food banks several times to feed my nephew because so much of her money goes on drugs.

Someone I was friends with at school does weed with her partner and he also does coke. They got in trouble with dealers and had her car torched and windows smashed. They also rely on handouts as they’re always struggling to pay bills because it goes on drugs. They have a toddler who she struggles to buy nappies for.

Someone else I know got into massive debt with drugs and crashed his car into a tree killing himself and leaving behind a 6 week old baby.

I don’t do drugs no, but I am aware how prevalent it is. Of course it doesn’t always work out like the above, but often it does one way or another eventually.

I could’ve written this. I read something once that said, “you don’t realise how many people do Coke until you’re sober”, and it’s so true. Drugs are rife in marketing and even more so in London. It’s part of the culture of both in my experience.

I used to organise events for a company and the toilets would look like they’ve been dusted with icing sugar, and that was during the day.

in answer to OP, I wouldn’t bother taking drugs with your work colleagues. It takes one of them to snap a photo and it could ruin your life. If you need to do drugs, do them with your actual friends.

I don't disagree that it really can ruin people's lives but I believe it's more to do with the people themselves, not the drugs. If it wasn't weed or coke, it would be alcohol.

In some situations, I guess, but not everyone who takes drugs is out to ruin their lives, sometimes it just happens and they wouldn’t have had the same negative outcomes from having a few drinks of an evening.

None of the people I mentioned were on a self destructive path. They all just started taking drugs for fun and it spiralled into debt & mental illness. I highly doubt any of the people I mentioned would have had the same issues from alcohol.

although I do think alcohol consumption can also be destructive in certain circumstances, but there is a reason certain drugs are illegal.

I agree but the drugs are a risk always. You don’t know where they are sourced from, if they have been mixed with anything.
I had a friend who was a casual drug user, never large amounts but ended up with a ‘bad batch’ and died.
 
I never really had much of an opinion on weed either way until Uni when I lived with a girl and her boyfriend who were smoking 8-10 joints a day and the mental degradation over an academic year was shocking. I don’t know if that’s a lot of weed as I don’t smoke it but they became paranoid and lacked concentration to say the least. I can totally see how long term use can open up mental health issues and cause paranoia or psychosis in extreme cases.
 
Wouldn’t take them but I’ve been in a few situations where I’ve had to hide what I know about drugs. I work in a creative field and we’re meant to flag to PR anything that could be potentially offensive- there was a t-shirt with Winter Drip on and a ❄️ emoji- drip is well known as the powder drips from your nose to the back of your throat and the PR people didn’t get it even when I tried to explain. If you strongly insinuate you have experience of drugs can you get in trouble- I should have pushed that T-shirt a bit more not to be in social campaigns? Guess you can just say you know from research but nobody would believe you 😂

I think so 😂 like if you had no drugs experience you wouldn’t get that reference but none of the employees want to admit to it
 
When I was addicted to cocaine I’d do it with anyone, wasn’t helped by the industry I hanged around with where drug use was just normal and snorting it after finishing work and in work was normal and seen as fun. Some people even sniffing a gram before they drove home from work in one go.

Now, no, I’d never touch drugs again. I can honestly say looking back it ruined my life, I lost so much money and so much of myself. I hate myself for it, but it’s enough to not go back to it ever. As I’ll admit I’ve got an addictive personality probs because I have ADHD and bipolar so I have to stay away from people who do it or encourage it because it’ll never just be one night for me. It’ll turn back into weekends followed by weekdays on the stuff.
 
I've smoked cannabis a few times with my partner and friends and would do so again, however I don't wish to do it with work colleagues. I like keeping my work persona separate from my home persona.

More and more middle aged people are taking coke. It's not a young people drug anymore and upstanding professionals take it who you wouldn't expect to.

That's exactly who I'd expect to take it, do you know how expensive coke is 🤣 I think it's been a while now that it's very popular in well paid professional jobs

These middle aged, are just the ones who started taking it in the 80's and just kept going.
