What song lyrics do you think are awful?

I'm Too Sexy, Right Said Fred

Honorable mention:

"I've got a soul, but I am not a soldier."
All these things I have done, The Killers

"Never made it as a wise man
I couldn't cut it as a blind man stealing
Tired of living like a blind man
I'm sick of sight without a sense of feeling."
How you remind me, Nickleback

"Soft lips are open
Them knuckles are pale
Feels like you're dying
You're dying."
Sex on fire, Kings of Leon

Break Free by Ariana Grande -
I don't wanna hear you lie tonight
Now that I've become who I really are
.

I think even Ariana said she doesn't like the 'are' as it doesn't make sense. Pretty sure Max Martin wrote it and English isn't his first language. He's also wrote songs for the Backstreet Boys with similar errors. He does write good songs though!

Ed Sheehan - Shape of You

One week in we let the story begin
We're going out on our first date
You and me are thrifty, so go all you can eat
Fill up your bag and I fill up a plate
We talk for hours and hours about the sweet and the sour

And how your family is doing okay
Leave and get in a taxi, then kiss in the backseat
Tell the driver make the radio play, and I'm singing like

Shakira Whenever, Wherever
Lucky that my breasts are small and humble
You missed the best part, the next line is:

So you don't confuse them with mountains

The other song which always comes up in this sort of discussion is MacArthur Park, most (im)famously by Richard Harris. The chorus is a notoriously bad metaphor, but I actually think the first verse is worse

"Spring was never waiting for us girl / It ran one step ahead, as we followed in the dance / between the parted pages and were pressed / in love's hot fevered iron / like a stripéd pair of pants"

Amazingly that was written by Jimmy Webb, who is most famous for writing Wichita Lineman and Galveston for Glenn Campbell.
