What do you want to rant about today? #25

We're not sure whether to wait until January to send another batch out if we haven't heard anything but then that only gives like 10 days before the party. Is that enough time? Or send another batch of invites to the same people this week. What would you do? Have we sent them out too early and people have no idea what their doing next week let alone in January?

If you send another now, could you make it clear on the front it's a party invite and not another Christmas card? Or try to hand direct to parents instead of the kids?

She did write this isn't a Christmas card, it's an invitation on the envelope but they, well she does anyway, rips them open at school and usually comes running out with the invitation in her hand and says she's been invited to so and so party.

They break up on Friday and aren't back until 6th. The party is on the 12th so even less time than I thought if we leave it until January.
Giving them to the adults is a good shout. I think we'll do another batch and I'll bring them when I pick her up this week and she can hand them out in the playground before they all go home
---
I bought another pack of invitations today and going to send out her "back up list" of other children.
Ah this is why I haven't encouraged parties before 😂🫣

Tesco.
Had home deliveries with them for as long as I can remember yet never really get anything for the loyalty. See all these “Christmas bonus” stuff to get extra clubcard points but never get offered them nor any vouchers etc

Time to play the game & swap supermarkets

My daughters birthday is Christmas Eve, we've never done a birthday party as she's never been bothered about one. We usually do a day out and dinner of her choice a few days beforehand. She's desperate for her first party for her 9th birthday.
We've booked one for January and sent out invitations to 30 children a couple of weeks ago so they didn't get caught up in the Christmas card chaos. 4 people out of 30 have replied, 2 of those can't make it. She's asking every day if anyone else has replied. She's getting upset that no one is going to come. December birthdays suck.
People that don't reply suck.
I've told her that hopefully the invitations are caught up in the Christmas cards but I know alot of people just throw the kids Christmas cards away. Did you put a date on to RSVP by?

I've done 2 parties and found that people either reply the day they get the invite, or at 11pm on the cut off date. There's no middle ground.

Boxing Day here and my little boy is having his first party this year but we are holding it the weekend between Xmas and new year hoping that people might want to get out of the house and have some paid for soft play time.
I put an rsvp date on ours which is this Friday and we’ve had less than 50% reply so we’ve got enough to go ahead with the party but it’s annoying. I’ve realised I’m the type of person who replies straight away and to be fair I’m a bit of an oddity.
Can you ask face to face or send text messages?

I think I've mentioned before that I hate those ice breakers - if you were an animal what sort if animal would you be???

Well today we had a "team building" afternoon and it was fecking worse!!! Reki and other such mince!!!

I'll ask the crystal a question - can you see it moving all on its own??? Naw hen but I can see you making 2 different distinct movements so that it'll go in a circle for yes and backwards and forwards for no!!!

Before we went the manager was giving it - I need everything completed for Christmas cos I've got a report to do.

So we spent an afternoon with people wrapped in blankets and snoring instead of getting on with actual work!!!

I think this mince would have been better after Christmas when people need a pick me up. But no, we did it at the most stressful part of year!!!

And what's worse, when I said she was moving those crystals, I was told you're the only person saying that so you're wrong!!! But I wasn't the only person!!! At least 2 others said they thought the same but they didn't want to say publicly.

I hate my life!!!

Today I have: smashed a jar of jam on the kitchen floor, not been able to get in my car because the battery in the key died, stepped in dog poo, nearly choked on a yogurt, dropped a drink and had to fudge a web of lies when my daughter saw a parcel that contains one of her presents and has the brand on the box 🙄 Is it bed time yet??

Oh i didn't put an RSVP date.
I also reply straight away to invites too.
Honestly, I don't know most the children / parents 🫣. I have told her to ask the children if they're coming in a hopes they'll go home and remind their parents.
I definitely won't bother next year 😂

Stress hives. I keep thinking I've got gnats / fleas / bed bugs because I often wake up with a huge itchy lump somewhere random on my body. No one else has anything but I know I'm catnip to gnats so assumed I was just unlucky. Checked the dog, checked the mattress many times and found nothing.

Have now discovered stress hives and think it may be them. What fresh hell? So in addition to being stressed enough to cause an immune response I also have huge itchy welts bothering me as well.

Has anyone else had these?

Haven't heard of stress hives but are you definitely not allergic to anything?

My rant is, the cold finally got me but it's not a full on cold, just have a sore throat, feel knackered and have a mad sore head, pain are not touching it. The thing is I have no idea what direction is going in as it's not a standard cold pattern- am I gonna be better tomorrow or is it going to get worse? It will be a surprise I guess.

as pp could it be allergic reaction? Going through peri menopause and I’ve suddenly developed lots of allergies which create hives.
things like feathers even though I’ve always had feather duvet and pillows, silver and gold, bio washing powder, make up etc. it’s driving me to distraction

Dishwasher broke today. The first guy I rang said it was £155 call out charge, and he couldn’t come until Thursday. I said thanks but I’ll try and see if I can find anywhere sooner. Then the hard sell began “well if you don’t take that appt now, it’ll be gone when you ring back.” I was like ok, no probs, I’ll just have a ring around first. “And I know for a fact no one in (city) has any availability before Christmas. You don’t want to be without a dishwasher for Christmas do you.” Thanks for the advice but I’ll just try, thanks. “Are you sure you don’t want the last appt in (city) before Christmas?” No bye.

The next guy I rang was there within the hour, and the work plus the call out fee was £65, and all my dishes are now washed and away.

Oof you have my sympathy, I got these put of nowhere one day and they made my life miserable for months, until they went away on their own. The itching used to wake me from my sleep. Checked everything, even went to the immunologist, the guy just said to me "yeah random allergies and hives happen and we don't know why, here's a handful of antihistamines, stop stressing and see me if it persists" so helpful thanks 😂 I was taking up to 6 antihistamines a day at one point (by doctor's prescription), I still don't know why they started and how they ended.

Rant: my sleep schedule is messed up, I'm barely awake during the day, I can't get to sleep at night and I can't wake up in the morning. I'm going to lose my wits, nothing works.

AT least it's not Ed Shearan
---

That's taken a turn. Do you think he means it?
not the first time he's said it recently but previously I have dismissed it because its been in conversations about the woman he met on holiday. It's pretty clear now she wants nothing to do with him but he's still saying it. He seems to be going on some kind of old age crisis.. he calls it New *flamates name* where he talks about selling the flat and buying a house/moving to somewhere hot. He's buying clothes and tit at a rate like a Tiktok girlie (all the while telling me i have too many clothes) the amount he bought for his holiday was more than hes bought in the past 20 yrs., . single handedly ondoing all my eco sustainable efforts, keeping Jeff Bezos in yachts, got a dreadful tattoo etc and is talking about getting his ear pierced. I'm waiting for the motorbike cliche but he doesnt even drive. He's talking about nightclubs and dancing, is becoming a crypto bro and he's starting to emerge as someone who has a lot of unsavoury views hes kept hidden for 25 yrs. I don;t think the staff of the Indian last night appreciated him saying he's right wing and likes Tommy Robinson which was a real shocker to me

his parents have both died now and so hes getting the money to do this ... do not get me started on the chunk of my parents estate he managed toworm his way into..

I think he means it this time becos he says it enough. I can quite honestly see me ending up in some freezing dodgy hovel somewhere staring at the walls never speaking to anyone and waiting to die for the next 20 to 30 yrs

I wanna rant about how I’m feeling sorry for myself. I thought I’d made it past being ill since my last bout of a chest infection in the latter end of August (that lasted weeks and my doctor just wouldn’t give me anything for it). I’ve had a terrible dry cough all day and now my body is aching like I’ve had a three hour gym session. I just want to be one of these people with great health. What more do I have to do? I’m taking vitamins, I’m sleeping 7hrs a night minimum, I’m hydrated, eating properly 😩 so annoying!

Some of my colleagues aren't proactive at all, 3 times with the same colleague in 3 days I've been left a mess to sort, and with no info about said mess.

Maybe I'm allergic to something but I just get random itchy bumps, not anything localised. Currently one on thigh, one on both hips but on the back, one inside of arm, one on fore arm, one under boob. All came out on different days.

If I've ever had flea bites they are usually feet / ankles. Apparently bed bugs form a line. I'm so allergic to gnat bites they swell to enormous size, ooze, itch to buggery and then bruise. These don't.

I had never heard of stress hives either (are they an American intervention?) but stumbled across them in a bid for answers. Tis a mystery possibly solved with antihistamines.

I'm so fed up with being bloody itchy.
