Agree with a lot of what you’re saying about the vaccine but if you’re in Ireland 50% of people in ICU are unvaccinated so the vaccine is working, just not as effectively as we might like.

If you’re not in Ireland you may not understand this one but it’s time for the late late toy show to wrap up and go home. And all the ancillary bits that come with it, toy show pjs, graze boxes, cake boxes etc and my social media has been filled with the crap the last few days. The target audience is supposed to be children yet the show starts at 9.30pm when lots of them are in bed or falling asleep.
Yes I am in Ireland ☘️ That still leaves the other 50% as vaccinated people. Whilst the vaccine provides some protection it definitely isn't worthy of the promotion it is getting and the current vaccinations available aren't going to get us out of this mess that is why I think our governments should be pushing these companies to produce a vaccination that provides full protection and stops the spread. Like most vaccinations do. I am just scared that companies don't have the incentive to make better vaccines as money is too big a factor. They are companies who have shareholders and are there for profit.

The toy show 🙄 is it not the WORST thing on TV 😂 I didn't like it as a child and I hate it as an adult. I had the TV licence inspector at my house the last day, I begrudgingly paid it. RTE is bleeping awful 😂 the quality of TV produced, they wouldnt get away with it if they were a private company.

Anti maskers are complete twats. Bloody selfish as well.

I also found out a colleague is an anti vaxxer the other day and really struggling to be civil to her, I’m not the only one either.
I had some mad bat giving out to my father, a 60 year old man for wearing a mask. My father told her to do one but if I was there I would probably have attacked her 😂
Reddit actually has a support page for families who have lost loved ones to the conspiracy theories, I think everyone knows someone who is antivax. Anyone I know that is antivax is pretty unreasonable about the whole thing, only believing news from sources that support their ideology. They usually resort to insults such as 'sheep' or 'brainwashed' to dismiss any evidence you present.

I think most people who claim they are exempt just don’t want to wear them. The only genuine exempt are those with additional needs IMO.

That's a valid reason in my book. If I thought covid was even half as deadly as we are being told, I would be wearing one, heck I would not leave my home. As it is I'm more scared of how compliant people are than of covid.

The emperor is stark bollock naked as far as i'm concerned

What’s wrong with people being compliant though? It’s perfectly normal and acceptable to comply with rules and regulations. This won’t last forever, because pandemics don’t last forever. Another six months to a year and this will all be history. I think those who have moaned endlessly about restrictions are those who are awkward in all areas of their lives and don’t like being told what to do make trouble a work, were difficult at school etc. Thats something I have observed from people I actually know who are like this 😉

There are many rules I comply with as they make sense. I'm not going to comply with rules that make no sense at all.

This won't last forever = two weeks to flatten the curve. = it's just a bit of cloth = its just one vaccine ........ repeat forevermore,

This couldn't be further from the truth with the people I know.

The people moaning the loudest are the people who stuck to the rules to the letter in previous lockdowns and are generally compliant in all areas of their lives and are now tired.

The people who aren't moaning are those who break rules in every day life (I.e. speeding, drink a little too much and drive etc) and did so during lockdown so don't care now restrictions are coming back as they just won't stick to them again.

It was never meant to be just one vaccine though was it? It was always made clear we’d need two and possibly a third booster. It won’t last forever because pandemics don’t last forever, it was never going to be over in just a few weeks though. We were always
looking at eighteen months to two years going by the example of the Spanish flu because it’s the only thing we have to compare it with. The real mistake was not making it clear at the start that this wouldn’t be over in just a few weeks, because as we now see some people take everything literally are unable to look at the bigger picture. You can’t keep people locked up forever, that I agree with, but you can take small steps to prevent It all getting out of control.

Spot on. I don't care if there is another lockdown I won't be locking down, I don't care if masks are made mandatory as I won't be wearing one, same with vaccines. The people moaning are those complying.
My only problem now is people who comply because they think this will be over if they do. I'm not talking about those who are genuinely scared but those who believe this is BS, but do it anyway.

Masks do work, in Spain they are saving us from the 6th wave whilst Europe is f*cked because they decided to lift all restrictions too early.
The mask has actually saved me from getting it. I met up with a friend in summer and she tested positive the next day, she had it quite bad. Thanks to be wearing a FPP2 mask I didn't get it. She also wasn't vaccinated and I already had my first jab at that time.

Isn't Spain in Europe anymore? I've not worn a mask and not got covid either, or I might have but not bad enough for a Dr, there have been many cases even on tattle where family members got it but others didnt. You cant say this saved me, as you really don't know.

You don't know that the mask saved you from getting it.

I know people who live with people who tested positive, haven't isolated them to one room, and have continued to live as a normal married couple, I.e. sharing a bed, sitting next to each other on the sofa all evening etc and the other never caught it. No masks involved.

It is in Europe? I'm just saying that comparing it to other countries Spain is way better because we didn't lift all restrictions in a short period of time. Mask is still mandatory inside.
I can't know for sure but I do believe the mask and the vaccine helped me not get it... and yeah I know there's been rare cases where people living together didn't get it but that is not gonna make me take the risk. I have old parents and I don't want to be responsible for their deaths. I know more cases of people getting infected in the same house and ending up in hospital than the cases you are describing.
