Just mind your own business in life and you can’t go far wrong. No one is going to lock their kids or old relatives up to placate a misery guts. If something out of the ordinary happens such as getting an ankle injury on aisle 3, then whinge and gripe about it- you will find people sympathise.
 
I have always taken my own children and now my grandchildren shopping. It's a life lesson, every opportunity to teach a child something that will help them in the future is a good thing. We have our routine each child has to look for an item and see if there is something cheaper or larger than our normal one. They take turns unpacking the trolly and packing it into bags, paying, and counting change or using a card etc


UO, People who can't bear other humans should shop online and let others shop without the worry of inadvertently offending someone by breathing or just being alive. 😉

Yep, if someone has a problem with other people, it's them that should stay in.

I don't know whether it's a modern attitude or not, but there seems to be a real thing now that people expect the world to change for them. No we all have to try and make the best of the world that is around us, not expect others to change to accommodate us.

It's like people that don't like dogs say dogs all need to be on leads. No you need to get over your fear of dogs or not go to places dogs will be, because they live in our world and they are not going anywhere.

It's alright if a kid runs into me. It'll hurt, I'll be annoyed for a while, but I'll probably get over it. But what if they hit a pensioner who's bad on their feet? Or a young child? The outcome could be different.

But hey, who cares? As long as a kid who somehow can't walk for more than 5 minutes, but somehow has the strength and energy to ride a bike or scooter all over town, isn't annoying their parent with their moaning. Bollocks to everyone else 🙄

I mean the chances of this happening are so slim. My child brings his scooter into the town centre every single weekend, he’s never bashed into anybody. And I think you’ll find us parents are of course really cautious when there are elderly / disabled people around and will warn to be careful or even say ‘come off your scooter for a second please’

I think child free people think us with children are bleeping idiots and don’t give a tit about anybody else. That couldn’t be more opposite. We’re very aware of those around us whilst also allowing our children to BE CHILDREN. Honestly you’re reaching now. Maybe if you hate children so much only go into town when they’re at school?

I don’t think all dogs must be on leads at all times, but wanting someone to control their animal is so different to wanting someone to control a human being. All humans have the same rights, dogs do not lol and if your dog can’t behave itself then it should be on a lead.

I like kids. I have kids. I don’t think a town centre is ever an appropriate place to ride a scooter/bike/skateboard. These things aren’t mutually exclusive 🤷🏻‍♀️

Agreed. My son is always like ‘I’m toooooo tired to walk’ but can run around somewhere fun non stop. If bringing his scooter takes the pain of going to the shops away whilst I don’t have to be nagged for a carry (he’s 6 I’m not bleeping carrying him) then the scooter it is.

Why. There’s no rule that says no bikes allowed. It’s a free country. People can use whatever they like to get around, just because you don’t think they’re appropriate that doesn’t mean they can’t be used.

When mine were small it seemed everyone helped, if your child was crying on a train others would help try cheering them up or distracting them. people helped you carry your buggy, child or shopping. Today it's like everyone for themselves not only do they not help but they hinder by glares and frowns.

Srangely enough leads hinder many dogs from socialising. Ive seen many a dog on lead go for other dogs but will happily play with them off lead. Humans need much more training in dog behvour. Many dogs who are reactive on lead are protecting their owner who they feel is threatened as they can feel the stress from the owner every time another dog comes into sight.

Exactly lmao, the amount of times I’ve nearly had my head taken off by some head adult on an electric scooter, yet everyone is fuming over a 5 year old using a little manual one?
Tbh it seems like a lot of people have forgotten what it’s like to be young and how fun going on your bike or scooter is as a child.

Honestly, aside from the obvious safety issue, I think it’s just lazy parenting. I don’t think there’s a rule because parents used to use their common sense, now everyone thinks the world should revolve around their small human.

Exactly. Kids have to learn somehow and the best way to learn is experience and practice so if they’re in town as children on a scooter maybe when they reach adulthood they’ll not be as dicky as the idiots on them atm 😂😂

I love how people assume you are child free if you moan about other peoples kids. :rolleyes:

Busy town centres are not the places for scooters or bikes. It can be hard enough in busy areas without a kid trying to push past on a scooter. It's not illegal but it is courteous. What does it teach the kid anyway? That they can do what they like as long as they're happy and not bored? That they shouldn't be considerate of people around them because it's a free country?
 
It sounds that without scooters/bikes we would have a lot more kids throwing tantrums and being annoying little shits 🤷‍♀️

We really would eventually reach the answer to just keep them indoors and only let them out to school or to the park

Yes exactly this. See also, busy restaurants are not the place for your child to watch peppa pig at full volume on an iPad. Not illegal, but it shouldn’t have to be for an adult to know it’s inappropriate and discourteous to others.

Obviously I don't know what your town centre is like or how your kids behave. But in my town centre it's not appropriate for kids to be on wheels and the kids that are are not being careful and safe.

Just because an accident hasn't happened it doesn't mean it won't. Having people moving at different speeds in a busy area increases the risk of an accident. And if one is on a vehicle, the injury to the other party is likely to be more sever. In my opinion having kids on wheels in busy pedestrian areas is just putting others at risk of accident, which makes its selfish. I don't ride my mountain bike round the town centre so why should a kid be zooming around on wheelies or a scooter.
