Ungraceful Guide

I feel like the have this undertone of superiority, they have shuned the life of people back home who are settled with jobs, who work hard for a living. The ironic thing is their life is funded by handouts from their parents, the ones who work hard for a living. No sure what example this sets for Cora. I really get the sense that they are on the run, I feel sorry for them. It must be exhausting moving around so much with a young child. Honestly every place they go looks the same, I wonder if one of them is driving being in the run more than the other? I hope it all works out for them. Cora is such a dote.

Are you actually serious ? This just sounds like pure jealousy! I would absolutely love to do what they are doing. And it seems Cora is one of the brightest little girls because of it. Living her best life! She is just adorable. They are giving Cora something that most people will never experience.

FFS, these guys can't win! Damned if they travel, damned if they come home (during a global pandemic, the cheek!). They're too skinny, yet have buckets of energy and look happy! They're freeloaders, they're too careful with money...... We all have our annoying quirks but my god, these guys are just doing their own thing and not impacting or conning anyone. When you think of all the sellouts that flood their page with crap AF links, there's a lot worse content out there than Katie & Luke

I’m pretty sure that they both work remotely as developers (or similar line of work). Never got the impression that they live off of handouts. And to be fair, I think they put a lot of work into living this alternative lifestyle. Just because it’s not a mainstream life that most of us live, doesn’t mean that there’s anything wrong with it. And Cora is getting an experience and education that money cant buy.

We are all obsessed with conforming to social norms. I personally think what they are doing is amazing. Cora will learn far more travelling the world then school will ever teach her. She will catch up easily when the time comes. I bet they will homeschool until she is ready for secondary.
they are deffo not running. I thought they explained it very well before when they said they were working hard and saving nothing so what is actually the point? They only spend €150 per week when travelling and get to experience so many amazing things. I’m in awe of them. Cora is one lucky child. Anyone who thinks she is missing out on ‘normal’ life needs to have a good think about their life. She’s only gone 2 and can speak better than most 5 year olds I know 🤷🏼‍♀️

😂 Clearly they are not on the run, it's their lifestyle choice to keep moving around. Watching them is like watching people on the run because they are always moving, never staying anywhere for more than a few days. Does anyone know what there "Internet company" is called? I know they did a travel and make money course with stepmylife awhile back and did some basic websites off the back of it but have heard nothing since. Yes 100% great parents no doubt about that. Cora is getting undivided attention from both parents which is very special. Traveling is not cheap, even on a budget, anyone who has gone travelling will know that. Its clear the parents are funding them, sure they didn't work the whole time they were back in Ireland.

They paid 14 euro per night for their accomodation the other night. Much as I admire their lifestyle, its definitely not for me due to the frugality. They would have been entitled to dole at home. What is it that makes it obvious to you that they are being bank rolled? I cant figure it out

I say they have enough repeat business that they don't need to plug it as much as 3 years ago.

I'm also baffled as to why you think this? Their whole business is web/internet based.
How/why do you think they didn't work the whole time they were home?
They stayed with family yes- but to me that made sense, especially when the plan was to continue travelling- they wouldn't have wanted to be stuck in a rental lease- plus it's mad money to rent short term.

My daughter's partner is a software engineer/ web designer and works remotely in Bali, but main office is in Leeds....he earns in excess of £80k per annum....
they're actually travelling through Vietnam over the Christmas period
there's loads of remote workers/ digital nomads around the globe doing exactly what Katie and Luke are doing ( and with families) ...its not a conventional lifestyle but it suits many!

I'd just like to point out they are not highly skilled web developers or anything. I'd doubt their skills tbh. They were not working in that before travelling. So I wouldn't compare it to somebody highly skilled and experienced on 80k. They just decided they could do this while travelling. I'd question if they are even doing it anymore - it's never mentioned. They used to do a thing where you chat to people online in English and get paid - very little.

And they have a massive superiority complex - that's why I unfollowed them ages ago pre pregnancy. They're travelling stories were them acting like they are the only people to travel to those places etc etc. The kind of backpackers you would meet who would wreck your head bragging about how they are better "travellers" than everyone else and how they don't go to touristy places. When loads and loads of travellers do the same as them.

Their business seems to have an active insta page called ungracefulwebs. It definitely looks as if they are working in this industry while travelling. There are pretty recent updates on the page.

Also they were so preachy about not wanting children and then randomly got pregnant. Which is fine but don't be so preachy about it. Just acknowledge people's opinions on these things change as they go through life and don't talk about it preaching all the time.

Honestly it doesn't matter to me if they weren't doing it before, or aren't 'highly skilled'- if they're making enough to fund their lifestyle then that's all that matters?
I also never found them preachy about not wanting children- more that it would be more difficult to travel like they wanted to with a baby/toddler- but tit happens and they've found a way that's working for them.
I personally loved following them because they were visiting off the track places and sharing money saving tips - where to stay, eat, visit, how to avoid getting ripped off abroad, essential items for travelling and how best to get from A to B. Other travellers may go to similar places, but they don't educate others online about their findings.

Exactly. I always thought it was a good thing that they talked and show this stuff (kids, no kids, plans changing, travelling full time) - it normalises different lifestyles. These guys are fun to follow, they’re not punting products or codes to try and make a buck/euro/pound. They’re not even pushing their business on their travel page, which a lot of others would do to try and capitalise on their following.

Yes, I get what you are saying. But people were coming across as saying they are some super skilled people making big money by working online. Which is not the case. Anyway, yes if it funds their lifestyle that's all that matters.

And interesting to see their work Instagram page. Yeah I definitely wouldn't say they are making much off that and their work looks poor quality, a least the logos do.

And yeah I get that their travel content is a lot more useful that other travel bloggers who just post beautiful pics with no practical information but I just find their personalities very annoying and the way they talk about things as if they are the only people on the planet to have visited that place or know that thing when they are usually well ON the beaten track of backpacker routes. They're the kind of people you would avoid in the hostel 😹.

I like Cora & enjoy the content mostly. They did a website for the beauty salon aspect of the pharma company I worked for up to March. It cost less than €500 & was built off Wordpress. It became a nightmare when the site traffic got busier & they openly admit before starting they are self trained via YouTube. Now this was 2020 so maybe they’ve improved but I know the salon went with a whole new site & company last year because it was full of problems. She said great if you just need a one pager with contact info but for anything more complex forget it
