I’ve always thought ED asks such leading questions on her podcast, like “do you think…” and then makes a statement that she’s clearly expecting her guest to agree with, rather than asking an open-ended question that might lead to interesting discussion.
I haven’t listened for years but every question ED has ever asked is so ED can answer about her experience. Urrrghhh honestly the worst.

Can anyone recommend a good literary fiction novel, one that's gripping and easy to read pls? I've just trawled round Waterstones and come out empty handed and lacking inspo, but want something good to relax with at bedtime. Must be gripping, ie not just beautiful writing. Any recs gratefully received!

Ugh I hate that. Sometimes I'll set aside time to go to a bookshop to get a good book and come out empty handed. I talk myself out of things for daft reasons (too many pages, not enough pages, font too big, font too small) and forget every recommendation ever.
Hope you find something!

Thank you! I have bought Demon Copperfield by Barbara Kingsolver as a bookish friend told me it was vg. Really enjoying it so far!

Has anyone else unexpectedly been exposed to Joanne Harris’ TikTok? The pauses at the beginning of the videos are excrutiating. She just stares for several LONG seconds and then when she eventually starts talking it’s so patronising. Think she needs to stick to Twitter/Instagram, the cringe is off the scale.

You’re no R.F. Kuang, Joanne, go do another snide thread about genre fiction on Twitter instead.

Oh god, it really is excruciating. Unsurprisingly there is zero engagement, I’m not sure why she bothers.

I read your post so of course had to trot along and witness the cringe for myself. The pauses are unsettling. And then into the creepy smile. I'm getting Annie Wilkes vibes.
