thewelshrunner and kellogs_ontherun #3 At Home with the Bonkdashians

How will Manchester go for Kelly?

  • All the excuses DNS

  • All the excuses DNF

  • All the dice rolled for a small PB

  • Going all in for no BQ

  • PB but no BQ

  • Pigs fly and a BQ happens

  • Quietly chooses not to run and the event is never mentioned again

What paces has she labelled MP, HM and 10k?
5:21/km Marathon
5:12/km Half
5:02/km 10K

10K is accurate based on her PB, HM is realistic on a very good day, marathon pace is the day when pigs fly

Imperial version:
8:35/mile Marathon
8:23/mile Half
8:05/mile 10K

I’m doing Manchester but my training has been railroaded by becoming utterly weather fatigued. Week after week of that wind has beaten me down. My longest run has been 16 miles last week, did 13 yesterday and got 10 next week. Dropped my sub4 dream and just running to get it done now. It’s been a marathon training block I’ve hated and not sure I will train again with a goal specific intention as it ruined the whole experience really!!
It’s better to turn up on the start line undertrained rather than overtrained. My best races have come from not having expectations and being relaxed. A lot of training plans only go up to 16 miles so don’t write yourself off. I think it’ll go better than you think.

I feel like this is what I need to hear. For the past few weeks I haven't done any long runs as I felt a little niggle in my legs (which I feel is getting better)/haven't had the motivation.

My last long run was 5 weeks before London. In fact I only ran 4-5 times in that 5 weeks because of injury. I did bonk because my hip started hurting from trying to compensate for the opposite foot being damaged, but still managed sub 4:30, and I am distinctly average.

Interpretation of Kelly's latest cryptic post? Mega long run tomorrow?
“P*** off tattle. I will show you all and smash a 3:45 out of the park. And if I don’t, I have a post that I put up two weeks ago to show I didn’t really care about times anyway. So there.”

Kelly acting like a child as per usual and pretending all is fine and dandy in the Welloggs house of doom.

Not sure what she means "little by little". So far she's got nowhere in marathon progress and an hour off her time is no "little" expectation
Bonked her recent attempts and I'm sure this one will be no different.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Matt runs it with her to scream at her the whole way round. She’s probably terrified of him so thinks it will motivate her. He’ll do the filming so she can go ALL IN.
He'll be on the sidelines screaming, even if he wasn't injured with his marathon a week later I don't think even he is stupid enough to run a marathon the week before, but I could be wrong 😂

Strongest I've ever felt? What? Carrying a Go Pro on a bike in Kenya? Yeah, we'd all feel pretty strong if we flew around the world to ride a bike and film other people running, too.

I've been the same way and battling an injury. My longest long run was 16 miles, and I'm going into my marathon with no time expectations - I'm going to run it, check it off the list and move on. I'm mentally fatigued and ready to lay off the training for a bit.
