Our favourite Welsh couple are making unwise training decisions yet again. Both have A marathons coming up, but both seem to be going ALL IN with their training, the junk miles be flowing.

Welsh Tits
Weeks out from Rotterdam Welsh Tits goes all in at a 24h track event with Salomon (would love to see him wear those shoes again!) and believes grapes are a form of fuel for running such an event. He hasn’t done much since, tattlers think he’s broken himself and is refusing to discuss.

Kellogs
Not long from Manchester and the goal race, even though she claims she has no idea what MP will be on the day (seems stupid for someone with a coach but hey what do I know?!) Kellogs takes herself out of her comfort zone for 2 weeks in Item, home of the champions. Tattlers wonder if she struggled to do anything out there because of altitude and T1d. There’s 0 running and a lot of white saviourness from our Kel coz of not running much. No biggy, have had friends drop out of big mountain expos coz of altitude sickness… but it’s a bit of a bummer for the tour operator I imagine, when she’s clearly there on a gifted trip and can’t sell it at all because she does naff all running. On her return she’s proud she’s barely eaten whilst out there, flaunts off the weight loss (Kel FYI that’s muscle you’ve lost there, probably not your best idea ever pre-marathon). Then despite being desperate to see her kids, Welsh Tits has her out there running straight after a long haul flight.

Just seen a Strava post from Welsh Tits named ‘Testing on the bike’ which I feel confirms the injury. Or perhaps he had covid again and that’s why he’s looking like shit, but I feel he’d more likely test that with a run.

Seen someone commented on one of his other Strava posts asking ‘no running? Hope nothing serious?’ Needless to say, no response from tits.

So what’s the thoughts on Kelly’s long run Sunday after 24 hours on a long haul flight and first day back with the kids? I reckon we can see something around the 10-12 mile mark from her today. Especially if sir bonks a lot is broken and can be on babysitting duties.
 
I think upwards of 15. She will want to test the fitness for as long as she can. I also think a longish run is on the cards for later in week. We know they don’t care about doubling up ( I don’t criticise doubling up but now definitely is not the time).

Bester had a good session yesterday so WR must be seething. If he is injured and has had 2 weeks out, I reckon his sub 2.20 goal (he claims sub 2.25 but we all know that is a lie) is out of the window. He can’t take 9 minutes off looking the way he does, particularly at the sharp end like he is.
 
I’m hoping to do the Manchester marathon and I have 16 on my plan with some at marathon pace for today.

I bet Kelly was pleased she was away for two weeks with Matt injured! No runner takes injury well but I can picture him being off the chart awful when injured.

I’d have a lot of respect for them if they held their hands up when their training etc goes tits up. The lows are as important (if not more important) as the highs.

Yep, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see 17 miles on the plan from Sir Bonks a Lot, and 15 on Thursday before any mention of taper. Think she had about a one week taper last block...we all know how that ended....

I suppose my honest view would be yeah, if it was me I’d probably do it 😐 but then I’m clueless about my training and it’s my first marathon cycle so I’m liable to make mistakes! However what I wouldn’t do is deliberately book a long haul flight that close to my marathon. I specifically chose my goal race for this cycle based around when we got back off honeymoon - it was going to be Manchester but I’d have missed weeks 7 and 8 of training rather than weeks 2 and 3.

My longest run has been 16 miles last week, did 13 yesterday and got 10 next week. Dropped my sub4 dream and just running to get it done now. It’s been a marathon training block I’ve hated and not sure I will train again with a goal specific intention as it ruined the whole experience really!!
 
Wonder when WR is gonna face the fans?! Also wonder if he’s regretting his version of ‘respecting the recovery’?!

Kelly just back from her trip and both managed to get training in. Not even one family day!! Starting to wonder if all is not well there?!

Kel got a busy time ahead editing all that content too!!
I’m wondering if he’s just exhausted rather than injured. He’s fuelled so badly recently, pushed himself in P24 and it’s just hit him? Exhaustion can be just as debilitating as injury.

So sorry to hear this. I hope you can still enjoy the day. Manchester is an amazing city, soak that atmosphere in ❤
 
I think it's very telling that Kelly said WR would be looking after all the kids but for the last 2 weeks we've only seen Harry. WR's face looks puffy as if he's ill or been crying. I don't think he'll get near his PB at Rotterdam, that will be another wasted trip. If they saved the money they spent on bonked marathons they could have taken the kids on holiday, don't think I've ever seen them go on holiday???
 
Her marathon pace, half pace and 10k pace in that session are all fantasy paces!

She'd be much better off going for a 4:30 mara and speeding up in the second half if she's feeling good. Just be happy with a pb this time, Kelly!
There will be a spectacular crash and burn if she sets off that fast.
