Thestayoverlife (Jess Parr)

1
I started watching her very recently but I did some digging and it seems like Freddie is from a very good family (his dad is a managing director). Freddie himself is a land director for a big housebuilding company.
I also wanted to see their wedding pictures and Jess said in an article they spent £33k+ on their wedding.

Actually, google just told me Freddie's parents owned a company focusing on construction of domestic buildings. His brother is a property consultant and developer.

Aw even though I have a massive dislike of influencers in general I quite like Jess. I think it's because she has the life I want with the house reno, dog and husband. Also, I feel like its a huge thing on tattle to act like anyone who's bought a property and is renovating is completing out of touch when in my circles it's quite normal around that age to be doing that? I do wonder what she actually does all day though considering she doesn't produce the most creative content. As most of it is stuff she would be doing in her daily life anyway (reno stuff, cooking, dog content) alongside a full time job

When I started watching Jess a few weeks back, I thought she had a full-time job in addition to her YouTube etc. but it seems not. Now I think that she is maybe the 'project manager' of her renovation project, just like The Mark Edit.

I don't think her lifestyle seems very luxe or unattainable. Even in the short time I've been watching, she has mentioned saving and having a budget several times. I know her living room was mostly #gifted, but who wouldn't take it if it was offered? If I think about it, then this new crop of influencers might turn out to be even worse than Anna, Lily and co. They have embarked on the Influencer lifestyle with a clear goal in mind (they know there is easy money to be made) and in that sense, they arrive to the influencer game fully formed and camera ready (Freya Farrington has mentioned that being an influencer was her ultimate goal/dream career, while Jess herself is quite polished and presentable. I can see her appealing to brands). There will never again be a crop of OG bloggers like Lily and Anna, who really were just ordinary girls telling us about products they liked, until they started selling out big time...

Oh I don’t dislike her at all. I have a dog, a husband, and am renovating :)

I just find her voice ever so slightly grating

I think she seems like a really nice person, but I do get fed up of all these influencers who are from a wealthy backgrounds. They're all the same. She comes across that she's just like us, but she's not she's wealthy and had been lucky enough to have 33k to spend on a wedding. Not relatable.

I just think it's all a bit false.

She has quite an ordinary life that many of us can relate to, almost borderline boring.
@Shutterbug99 I agreed with what you said, I think her end goal even during her BA time was to become a FT blogger. Who wouldn't want to become a FT blogger when the money is easy and hours are short. I think in today's IG world, you need to have a niche or have a pretty face. Jess is quite polished (I'd like her to make a video about her clothes, I noticed that she has a pear shape body but her face and limbs are so thin)
Anna and Lily wouldn't have made it with their current 'content', one looks like Mr Potato Head from Toy Story another one looks like dirty drab cloth

I think she’s polished because she’s been ‘groomed’ by her sister Emily.

Jess definitely comes from money - can you not tell by her super irritating elongation of words.....Winnnnieeeeeeeee & Freddddieeeeeeee

I find her voice a bit annoying, and have noticed that she drops the 't' from a lot of words. In her latest video she says 'vibrating' (as in the house is vibrating) and 'starting' but the way she pronounces the words is 'vibra-ing' and 'star-ing.' I don't know if I've explained that very well - but I've never really heard someone pronounce those words in that way.

Also, she needs to take a fabric shaver to that jumper she's wearing in her latest video.

Hm not sure, even my friends who were refugees and came to the UK with nothing ended up having expensive weddings, nice houses and doing extensions. It's not always about what kind of family you come from.

I’m sure her husband had a good income and perhaps they had a lot saved up but to buy a house in London under the age of 30 and when you have a relatively normal paid job, drop & £30k on a wedding and be spending what, £30-40k on a renovation - BA air hostesses are not paid that much, so it’s pretty impressive.

Her sister also bought a house in London around Christmas the same time - her sisters budget was about £600 I think she said in a video, and her other sister had a house in Edinburgh (must more modest). They all became home owners around the same time which seems a bit of a coincidence.

I’m sure their parents must have helped

Or there was inheritance? Freddie does seem to earn a lot, I'd say 50-80k.

I agreed he works in a specialized area. Probably 70-80k with 10 years of working experience. They parents could have helped them on their first home and there was a Rightmove article where Jess mentioned that she made 30k from their previous help. Not a lot but every little helps

She has some of the worst edited videos I've ever seen. Can't tell what clips are from when, it's done too chaotically. The sound is all over the place, too, the lighting, camera focus etc.

@jaymie Not a video, but she did a blog post about her summer clothes haul yesterday, in case you missed it.
