The share my dog thread

Our vet surgery were offering a recurring once monthly injection of Librela for her back pain, (first injection was free) so we decided to give it a go.
Has anyone else's dog had this? It's said to be good & a bit easier than giving her MetaCalm every day, which if she detects, spits it out.
The day after the 1st injection she was wired to the moon 😁

I didnt use it but I read it is more likely to see results after the second month's injection

Something that puts me off adopting a dog from a rescue is the contracts involved. I think if it's your dog you should be able to make decisions regarding it's health/euthanasia if appropriate. I've seen multiple times where owners have decided something to then get hate online for not giving the dog back to the rescue for them to help it. The rescue should be a back up if the owner wants it e.g. if owners situation change they can't afford treatment etc. But if the owner who lives with the dog and knows what the dogs been going through wants to make a decision they should be able to. The vets then also get hate for breaking the rescue contract even though it's nothing to do with them and the owner is the one that they have to listen to. It's like you never fully own the dog if you can't make decisions for it. Seen people online who hate on the vets as well saying they'll protest outside or if they can't they'll keep phoning which is stupid as it prevents actual emergencies from getting through and therefore they are potentially putting animals lives at risk...

This must depend on the circumstances, a good rescue wouldn’t deny the most appropriate care for an animal.

My rescue dog was nearly euthanised at 4 years old by her previous rescuers. She has behavioural issues and had bitten them, because she wasn’t being managed properly. She’s been hard work and a learning curve but is the sweetest girl, it breaks my heart to think what if they’d been allowed to go ahead with it.

True I'd have to check their policy first wouldn't want to be abused by people online for making a decision for my own dog

Good on you giving her the time and attention x
When we looked for a rescue (unfortunately didn't work as our dog didn't get on) the dog we met could have had ongoing issues with her hip, the rehoming centre said up front they'd pay for her bills, which I thought was so generous of them.

That’s amazing. I think from your previous posts we’re in the same area, I’ve only ever heard good things about the local rescues. Mine was down west and I can’t rate them highly enough, they’ve been fantastic. Even now if I have any issues they’ll help with training.

That's really so good of them to still help you, shame most folks never think of rehoming, just want a cute puppy.
I'd soo love another dog, but the one we have won't entertain it, we've really tried, hasn't worked.

Thanks @Maid22
Yes she came out of her shell (after almost a bloody year) she's very stubborn but a very sensitive soul & just a big baby to be honest.
She gets excited about stuff now, if you are wearing a bobble hat & bend down she'll have it off your head 😁
You've done so well with her, how old is she now? That made me laugh about hat!!
My boy is 6 and am noticing when he's had a good day of running, his legs are getting stiff, have to start supplements! My blunt oh (who really loves him) said well he's nearly half way through his life!!

She is 6 1/2 now.
Is your dog a Jack Russell?
Maybe just normal if he's had a busy day or a touch of arthritis?
Glucosamine might help.
Greyhounds usually end up with arthritis/bad hips late in their life, same with most larger dogs.

She looks good for that, I'd have said younger!

He's a border collie (I've probably mentioned my Jr on here, he was my boy I lost 3yrs ago)
He's quite a big collie, so am expecting issues with arthritis, my last collie had same issues, glucosamine is a good idea, think I'll defo get him some.

Sorry, got mixed up.
Yeah, ask at the Vet or even a Pets at Home store, we've even found them helpful in the past.

My dogs doing my head in these last few days. He never wants to sit still. I'm ill and he just won't stay still I don't have the energy. My mum put his lucky mat somewhere when she stayed at my house and I can't find it to distract him for a bit. He has had his snuffle mat. He is currently lying still (finally) watching crufts, the dogs walking into the arena

So what are we buying our doggos for Xmas? Mine is just ball obsessed so has a new footie and a cuddly toy, he's quite strange about them, my old Jr would rip one up in minutes, he takes ages!
