I am not seeing a lot of enthusiasm locally for this platnum jubilee! Im not sure how to pronounce it, on the jubilee pudding programme, the Duchess of Cornwall definitely pronounced it as plat num.....with no i!
Plat-num is American English I thought and British English is plat-en-num?

I think they say their prayers every night for Harry and Meghan on that front! The press have their go to villains, so no matter what the Royals do, it is always lumped together with the Sussexes or it turns out to be their fault. They have their heroes and villains. Even Andrew consorting with Epstein and Maxwell and paying off victims of sex offendersis ' Harry, Meghan and Andrew are just as bad' even though all they have done is slag off their own family!.

This is what always annoys me about people who complain about Harry and Megan - complaining about our relatives being racist and backwards is not the same as being friends with a convicted pedophile and being accused of sexual assault

Love the TQ and Charles as carrots :ROFLMAO:

For those that don't want to spend much on a mug, I've just bought this mug from Tesco.

I complain about Harry and Meghan. I really don't like them and I think they're totally hypocritical and narcissistic but I am capable of making a distinction between them and someone like Andrew. I don't complain about Andrew because I take it as a given that he's seriously dodgy and everybody knows that. He doesn't do much either so there's not much to say about him. Harry and Meghan on the other hand provide loads of material for frivolous gossip and it's possible to indulge in that without being pro Andrew.

I wasn't pointing fingers specifically at you bit okay...

I know that but it annoys me when people assume that if you're critical of Harry and Meghan you're automatically a huge monarchist or an Andrew fan. People complain about people all day every day for all sorts of things - what difference does it make if someone else has done something worse than the person you're complaining about. If you want to vent, you want to vent!!

Just watching the news. Charles and Camilla are on a tour that is again problematic due to apologies being requested for the previous behaviour of the British Empire. This time it’s about residential catholic schools that indigenous children were made to attend.

To be fair, we can't really escape these issues as the British Empire spread a long way. This is the problem with having a recent empire, the elites in this country have to face up to these issues.

The mass graves of indigenous children forced from their parents into colonialist schools is horrific, absolutely horrific.

I see the Queen has made an unexpected visit to the opening of a new train line named after her in London today. She wasn’t expected to go but she the last minute has accompanied P Edward who was the expected attendee
It makes it sound like she was going to get a bus or a different train, but there was a disruption, and she just ended up at that train line anyway!

Not to piss on anyone’s parade but I have no idea why anybody would buy jubilee memorabilia.

The silver jubilee plates etc that people have on display are always used as shorthand for “this person is a bit old-fashioned lives in the past” in TV dramas or reality shows. I just find the whole thing a little bit… tacky? Sycophantic?

Why do you need it? You are commemorating a) a bank holiday and b) a party to which you weren’t invited. With crockery.

I just don’t get why you would buy a tatty Tesco mug just because it has “Queen’s Jubilee” cheaply printed on the side of it. Like something they hand out for free after you’ve run a half-marathon. Doesn’t it look really out of place with the rest of your stuff?

Why does anyone buy any souvenir or have a collection of anything? Ever buy a t shirt or programme for a gig or show? Guessing they like it. I’m not into royal memorabilia but I like a fridge magnet from everywhere I go. Usually the tackier the better too. Does it degrade my memory of the trip or holiday - absolutely not. Just makes me smile!
