Whilst I agree and I suppose the comment didn’t really add much ☕, - Kath is filming her own experience and putting that and more on her public social media and exploiting her son in the process - nothing personal has been said by the poster. We don’t know they’re in a caring role, they could be non patient contact - ward clerk, Security, Porter, house-keeper etc - they may be very well bluffing and be someone who Kath knows personally and just distracting away from themselves. As a nurse It’s not something I would do at all and so I do see where you’re coming from, it’s not worth the risk. But I don’t think it’s that shocking that we should be offended by it.

I've not said I don't like the woman but her antics on Instagram and by exploiting J is bang out of order and I'm sorry but it'd be more bang out of order if I saw these things and didn't do anything (which I am) so you can't have it all ways 🤔. In my eyes what I can see her documenting on Insta is so wrong and I have to safeguard the little boy.
You choose what you'd do but I'm doing what I've been trained to do.

And I can’t imagine she ever offers the excess she receives to the actual nurses working night and day to look after her child. When I was in hospital with my daughter I didn’t eat for 36 hours. Was too worried about my child.
 
I know the term parent carer isn’t popular. When my child was Js age I didn’t see myself as a carer just mum, they had very high needs but so do a lot of toddlers. Even some non medical/disabled toddlers can be a nightmare for their parents. Now my child is an adult and I most definitely am a carer- I’m still doing things for them that I was doing when they were 2. Nappies, washing, dressing, feeding, totally dependent on someone else to do everything all at an age when they should be out living life. I think that’s why I find her so frustrating because J is making some really positive progress and I’d love to have had that too.
Maybe I do come over as entitled but parenting them at adult stage when they need 24/7 care is not something you prepare for when you have a baby but you do it and it’s exhausting- mentally and physically, but that’s something the insta huns can’t empathise with. The insta disability community doesn’t want to see this,‘it’s built on pity porn. Much younger, more relatable children shown through their parents eyes how their lives are.
I sound bitter but I’m not, I just think it’s wrong to use your sick children when they are unable to give consent. My other children wouldn’t want to be shown on my insta in hospital or in a vulnerable state so I wouldn’t do it to their disabled sibling and I can’t wrap my head around the larger following accounts that do this.

If you have over £16k in savings you have NO entitlement at all, irrespective of being a carer or having entitlement to PIP/DLA ( or have a child with entitlement) - as K seems to have a claim although she’s not being paid anything, then she’s not declaring savings in excess of £16k...So, in a nutshell, if you’ve got this far, to have a NIL award, when you have entitlement to the above elements, a person is likely declaring income of at least £2000 a month.

I read your post again and I was wondering something when you said that she seems to have a claim but not being paid anything and therefore shes not declaring savings in excess of £16k and to have a NIL award someone would have to be declaring at least £2k in earnings. Does she have a claim though? That screenshot she shared is off the payment screen on her Universal credit account. It's only showing 6 months of £0 payments from Sept to Feb, March and May are missing. I dont know if its changed but before covid if you stopped being eligible for Universal Credit you could still log in to your account for 6 months and each month would show as £0 even though the claim wasnt active. Is that still the case? Her screenshot could be old from Feb when the 6 months was ending and that's why theres nothing after Feb. If that's the case her savings may have been declared but she still had the 6 month of access to login to view things that you get when your claim ends? It might have changed and you dont get the 6 months anymore, just curious if you know or anyone else does.

She has lost me too, she said they stopped her claim even though she isnt earning as much as she was when she was nursing, which must mean she was getting Universal Credit when she was nursing. I personally think she was reported by that many people to the benefits she had to declare her savings and insta work and it was stopped. She suddenly got a job in August despite there being a pandemic going on. If she was getting UC whilst nursing, it wouldn't say £0 for september. Recently she said she owed them money too, so things dont add up, because if she owed them money they must have deemed her ineligible before September but had continued paying so there was an overpayment which adds weight to them saying she isnt eligible because of her savings as she wasnt nursing before August. I'm lost now so I might just be confusing myself.

no not the Dla itself that is seperate and not means tested but you get an extra top up if you like through universal credit and it’s the same with tax credits which is means tested

I think Kath is the biggest example of having to worry within a caring role. If you’ve got something to fear, then you need to look a little closer to home not a public forum.

I was just typing exactly the same. No way will she spend any of that on coffee. She will be googling holidays and booking up. She told people to comment how they would like it spent but all she will do is choose a couple of suggestions and do a couple of stories saying here's the magazine I was told to buy or here's the flashcards and duggee toys, then the holiday will happen.

The last 24 hours have made me want to physically vomit. She is slowly making herself very clear. A friend of mine whom we have never discussed the nurse mum i didn't even know she followed her messaged me today asking if I followed her and if not to go look at the "vulture". How on EARTH can you say you have 0 balances on your credit cards have a credit score of 999 yet actually from your childs hospital bed beg for cash for a stash of spends when you're not broke for no specific reason but greed. No shame no morals and makes me really sad for people who are donating who don't have much themselves. She should hang her head in shame. Just take comfort in knowing she has proven to many in the last 24 hours just what she's after. I wish her little lad well and I'm genuinely sorry she has a unwell son but nope she has the brassiest neck of anybody I've ever seen. Be surprised if she's still around this time in 12 months the worm is turning.

Yes but your examples don’t include the name of the patient. Any nurse knows that this isn’t allowed. Even if you’re not a nurse, your hospital trust/employer would not allow you to divulge info on a patient and post it online. So whatever you say, whatever way you want to justify it, it is still wrong. Doesn’t mean I agree with her parenting, I’m here reading the same thread aren’t I?

this aft, it’s not like the other poster shared loads of confidential info? it’s only like me being a gp and saying i saw david beckham in my
clinic today and he was eating a snickers 🤷🏾‍♀️ for me the issues of confidentiality and breach of privacy all stem from her own behaviours and over sharing so many details and private, personal, intimate moments
of her child on the internet

I think that’s likely the difference. I couldn’t say “I saw X in the hospital”, but Kathy told the world that herself. So nothing medically confidential was actually revealed?

I might be wrong though. I don’t work in healthcare.

I get what you’re saying but let’s not forget that the comments here arent written quite like that. We all know how this woman feels about her and whilst she hasn’t done anything horrible, it’s still unprofessional. I highly doubt you’d be slagging off David beckham whilst he was on your ward and telling tattle that he’s lying about his visitors.
anyway I’m not here for an argument I’m just pointing out that no matter what you think of someone don’t lose your professionalism

I'm glad you could understand what I meant. The more I've thought about it the more I am convinced she has fucked herself up sharing that screenshot.

On one question she is answering that she isn't earning more than when she was nursing but they've still stopped it but then she shares that screenshot that shows she wasn't getting anything when she was nursing either. Her payment date is the 25th of each month, your paid one week in arrears so the NIL amount would be what she was entitled to from 19th August to 18th September, if she was entitled to anything it would be paid on the 25th. Her screenshot shows she didn't get anything when she was nursing.

If she had a claim and was declaring earnings over £2k a month it wouldn't stop at Feb. You can access your account for 6 months after your claim ends, if you stop working within those 6 months you're supposed to be able to login and restart it. She quit nursing within those 6 months so if she was able to restart her claim she would have, she hasn't, she claims she earns less now than when she was nursing so it's got to be down to having too much money in the bank.
