So whilst they aren’t directly employed by YouTube or Patreon, they do get direct remuneration from American companies which puts them in an awkward position.

If they carry on at this rate of travel to the US, they’ll hit 183 days and the IRS will be on them.

They’ll be officially paid by Patreon UK and YouTube UK, otherwise every single vlogger in the world would be in the same situation. The IRS won’t be interested if they’re UK domiciled (they are) but immigration/ homeland security will be if the keep on going to Florida like they are now.

Kicking off in their Orlando group 😂 I’m blocked but someone sent me this

That was... wow.
Awkward, poorly filmed, a pathetic attempt at being travel vloggers.
Clearly Nick thought he was on his best behaviour. The dinner looked horrible. Leigh hid in the kitchen, and he was clearly mad at Nick. His tone and lack of engagement shows that he was being as deflective as possible.

So apart from the shared side salad there was nothing healthy about their diet today!?! There were no vegetables (onions don't count) that they ate. It was toasted currant tea cake (shared), single fish and salad (shared) and the quorn curry. Did I miss anything?!

And also got a good laugh and P&P puffing and panting going up the stairs when a pensioner was just walking past them not a care in the world.

That was the same up a hill at another steep location. Dumb and Dumber were huffing and puffing and two older people with shopping bags were just behind, trotting up quite easily

It was a classic moment when the OAP strolled past them as they were puffing and panting on the way up to the Abbey ruins!

When you become monetised on YouTube you have to fill in a W8BEN form to confirm you’re part of a tax treaty with the USA. If they spend 183 days in a tax year in the USA that tax treaty stops applying and they’ll have to pay the IRS.

Work that is not permitted
Firstly, it is expressly forbidden to use an ESTA to enter into employment with an employer located in the USA. However, even if the traveller remains in employment with the employer in the home country, there are a number of services that are excluded. In the following cases, an ESTA does not suffice, and a US visa has to be applied for. Services are performed relating to:

  • Starting an organisation/company in the USA
  • Preparing or performing a corporate takeover
  • Investing in companies located in the USA
  • Performing media productions or journalist activities

So does running a YouTube channel and producing content in the US fall under the last bit about "performing media productions or journalist activities" especially if it is your main source of income/day to day job?

Yeah anyone who spent that long in the US would have to file, even if they had no income to declare, it’s why the snowbirds carefully calculate their stays. Good luck to the Lodge Guys spending 183 days a year in the US on an ESTA.

Also you don’t pay tax twice. Presumably they’re paying tax in the UK so they wouldn’t be liable to pay in the US, even if they had to file. As a dual US/UK citizen, I pay tax on my salary in the country where I am
paid , I’m not liable for it in another too. Same with income from assets, which I have in both countries.

That’s lots of people we know and love hate who would be screwed if that were the case!

That does depend on where you live though, some countries insist that anyone earning money in their country has to pay tax there as well. Usually the UK has some sort of Double Taxation rules so you only pay tax once with most countries though.

It does and I was talking about the US/UK, as applicable to me (and TLG).

The point I am making is they’re fine as they are in the US for work and tax as long as they don’t stay too long in the US. I’m sure they’re aware of that and we won’t be seeing them get a visit from the IRS any time soon. Immigration may want to have a word if they try and enter the US again in the next few months, though.

If I were them, I would not have left that in the vlog!

They do seem rather unfit for people of their age who claim to exercise. I know Prick has asthma but what’s Pouty’s excuse for being overtaken by grandma?
