Not having a go at anyone but.... Tipping is a personal choice of whether to tip or not to tip or how much you do tip. I really, really, really hate when people say you should tip a certain percentage, and if you tip less you are a bad person... as far as I'm concerned they are trying to preach and force their views onto others. We should all make are own mind up. At the end of the day tip what you feel it is worth and comfortable leaving not because some one put an arbitrary figure on a check.

But in Canada and the US, if you're a party of 6 or more most restaurants do add a mandatory 18-20% gratuity automatically to your bill so that is the amount you have to tip. For parties smaller than that, it's a known fact that's the percentage expected.

It's not about comfort. It's about what is the norm in that country/society. If I went to the UK and decided not to queue for everything I do - the Tube, a museum, getting into a show, etc. people would call me a queue jumper, that I was ill-mannered, rude, etc. This is the same thing.

If you're not comfortable tipping or tipping the going rate, then don't eat at sit-down restaurants in countries where tipping is the norm and expected.

I guess it depends where you live, here in a smallish town in the northwest of England most places have pretty good service even in cheaper pub

She is after all their "friend." After all she did for them in Florida, probably paid for most things and drove to them with tests, I'd be mortified if I saw my friend mock my difficulties.

Of course he does, along with mocking peoples weight and those that can't speak English I'm sure.

This is 100% accurate.

You could see he hated being associated with the Bazzas when out (who seem harmless BTW - just a little boring) but his love for saving cash over-rides it.

Unfortunately, I think some of them are so desperate for the friendship, no matter how fake it is from P&P's side, that they'll never speak out against them even if they disagree with things they say or do. Others are just as chavvy, gobby, and tacky as they are so they don't see anything wrong with it.

I think it will be very telling next trip out whether Chris and Bazza pay them a bit of attention or if they blank them completely for the two weeks. I think they'll give them the minimal bit of attention and time from their lives as possible.
