Sarah’s editing of Marie’s Miserable Monotone Monolgue was the only bright spot - which isn’t saying much. The monotone dialogue was devoid of any emotion. Completely lifeless, even when saying (repeatedly) that Lalande is her happy place.

In less than 24 hours it’s had nigh on 30,000 views! There are 775 comments (I read a few which, predictably, were saccharine, gushing messages of praise and admiration). Beyond my comprehension.

I bought a car…Mmm and SOLD it !

I did notice the high number of unbelievable comments. I wonder if Fanny reads them?

She said that none of the Lalanders were hurt and that it was a tragic accident... so deduce from that what you will.... I must confess it's been such a long time since I have actually looked forward to watching a CD's, albeit for all the wrong reasons...this will have to be an Oscar nomination performance to pull it off, escaping unscathed.

I was a Patreon member of Chateau Diaries for a month or two last year, and the Selmar incident made me distance myself from the chateau community in general. I'm content watching without contributing anything.

I still watch Chateau Diaries just out of boredom really because despite my reservations of Ms. Jarvis' grifting it does provide a snippet of life in the French countryside, since most French vloggers are based in Paris and they focus on fashion, or video games. There's only so much French vloggers I can watch putting make up and trying on clothes on before I get so tired of it, or basically French versions of PewDiePie streaming video games.

The recent incident is another reminder of the sketchy nature of Lalande. You can watch, but don't give them money. Most of the audience are seemingly American grandmas too.

In terms of vloggers in France, it falls into two camps, the local French vloggers with a local French audience vlogging about specialty topics, or American and British expats living in France vlogging about castles.

Which is why I circle back to Chateau Diaries, the Sundays At The Chateau specials was one of its saving graces since it talked about local French culture to an international audience. The fact is that even French vloggers don't really talk about French culture.

I think the grifting would've been more palatable had they shifted to a more cultural and historical educational channel. I think this was the primary reason it attracted the interests of the French government and the French Heritage Society, but the channel has completely abandoned that.
 
I can't stand Julie Montague, although as everyone says, she tries hard. She has no self-awareness and is so loud. I also remember when some ignorant fan asked her what it was like to be "royal"; when she answered, she did not enlighten the fan to the fact that she was not at all royal! It was also annoying that she became a royal commentator for a TV channel; I doubt if she's had much, if any, contact with the royals. She's not even an aristocrat, she just married one, who, at the time, was probably incapable of realising what she was like! She has certainly raised money for the wealthy family's property. Mapperton is also used for film sets, e.g. for Far from the Madding Crowd, a few years ago, as Kirsten and Joerg like to point out. They really like JM and are rather sycophantic themselves. They love visiting places that have been used for films, e.g. an Oxford College used for a Harry Potter film and Bath, because of Bridgerton. All very annoying when these places have so much much more of real interest. Having said that, K and J do give a snippet of the real history. They are just a bit too "twee" for my liking!

Their 3 day a week vlog which is always shown in slow motion with the same imagery over and over and over and over again is tiresome. Stop the 3 day a week and put it in one and stop the slow motion. Put together a 20-30 minutes weekly video showing progress. I FF through most of their stuff anymore. It is no longer a must watch for me as are most of the others.

I reckon Marie is seeking another vehicle. It made me angry when she talked about how she had launched a business in the UK (which she miserably failed at and she had no business plan at all). She also stated that she "bought" a car. No, Marie, you begged for one, saying it was needed for the business you attempted to run for five minutes, and then you sold the car and pocketed the donors' cash. The car was virtually never used for your "business". It was acquired through falsehood and just driven, very badly, up and down the country, and to and from France, on ridiculous and unnecessary trips while you vlogged and stayed for free in other people's property. Isn't it time you grew up, stayed in a proper job, and paid for your own accommodation and possessions?

But it does seem that Nattie has a complete influence over Amaury. Both men and women can be like this. Narcissistic behavior? I’ve experienced some of this myself in my own life in the past. You give up part of yourself, and maybe your entire life for someone and it is a terrible mistake. I think Amaury has done that. Even if there is a conflict in connection with being friends with Dan, I don’t think that’s the main reason that he isn’t doing it. But I do remember last year Dan went to the UK for the “rewards” ceremony alone? I don’t know. Just my take on it.

And what happened to all of the packages and gifts that she was sent by people when she started her endeavors at La Lande in one of the side rooms (stable?). She actually did unboxing videos then. I wonder what became of all of those things? I’m sure she must’ve taken them with her when she went to England but then what happened? Did she just ditch everything in the UK when she fled to Norway?
