Ruth can be funny

Random post- remember Ofmark used to always talk about Smith & Cult nail polish? I came across it on a beauty website today and it reminded me of her. I nearly bought it at the time but glad I didn't as at £18:a bottle it better be bloody brilliant.

I brought a couple on sale, and I was a bit disappointed by them. The handle on the nail polish is a bit small and awkward to use, the formula is thin which I like but it does not last on my nails. I use the Orly bonder basecoat, it still chips after 3 days. For reference, both Essie and Dior nail polishes tend to a bit longer - I use the Dior gel topcoat on every nail polish, it gets sticky pretty fast so I will try out another topcoat next time.

Not trying to be funny, but Essence the gel topcoat is the best top coat I have ever tried. Bonus point for being only £2 too

Can someone tell me why everyone is leaving Gleam now..I haven't been following what's been going on.
I think the CEO / founder left, so perhaps it’s all change?

They have no interesting content of their own so they are using their "friendship" with Ruth to leech off her funny reels as to appear fun/cool/creative by association.

It seems the same with Karen BritChick (plus maybe some performative behaviour there too). I’ve followed Karen for a couple of years and I’ve never seen her interact with Anna. She does with Emma Hill and a couple of American YT, but I really doubt Pollyanna is a fan!
Which is a shame, because she and her husband have done a good job with their renovations - which have been partly sponsored/gifted, so I am still cynical - but they’ve taken the time and considered what they need from the spaces.

Tbh I feel like Karen "deserves" those sponsorships. Her content is reaally something different even if you don't compare it to Anna, she still has pieces from 7 years ago, so, it's about her own style and not what's trending. Of course, it's still unfair she gets free stuff and not me, but they also purchased plenty of pieces with their own money and do the renovations (or at least from what I saw) themselves.

Yes, her content is way more engaging then Anna’s - and many others - so I don’t mind so much either.
l also like how her husband still works his own job!

Yup, I quite like Michael despite not being a fan of ytb's partners making freuqent appearences. Maybe because he's not religiously mentioned after every 2 seconds AND she's not chasing him with her camera for the grid, so, when he does show up it seems like he wants to.

Also, she recently talked about how some pieces aren't for anyone (me thinks it was about the loewe belt or something) and encouranged people to think about whether it's worth it for them personally. As opposed to Anna who'd describe a gifted sock without a sole and tip and covered in dog's piss as "OMG, I'M SO HERE FOR IT--" giggle, giggle, giggle "--such a classical item for my capsule wardrobe, Mark asked me whether it's summer already."
