surely this should be illegal!! if these people could afford dogs like that in the first place they should just buy one, must leave thousands of dogs open to neglect and poor care

I had no idea this still happened. It was common with working dogs when I worked with a gun dog breeder as a teen. It seemed as though it stopped happening with working dogs, I thought it was a thing of the past.

My next door neighbour has a French Bulldog under this scheme. She gets to keep the dog after she's had two litters. I never even knew that this kind of thing went on. The dog has just had it's first litter, 2 survived but one died. My neighbour had to register the dog for insurance purposes and the breeder had always said that the dog was two but it turns out she was only one when she had the first litter. I just find it all incredibly sad to be honest - putting that poor pup through all that. The dog also eats its own faeces as it was kept crated at the breeders home. I don't know whether to think at least the poor dog gets to live with a loving family whilst being bred or to think if people wouldn't go along with these schemes to get a free dog, then this kind of practise would stop (or would they - would the breeders just keep the poor dogs locked up in a shed instead)
Sorry - I do lurk on this thread (Teen mom in all it's varients is my guilty pleasure) but this dog situation just makes me so annoyed!

Also, Billie and Megan don’t follow each other anymore - this is after Megan and Tel unfollowed each other and there was speculation they had split for a few days... all of a sudden they are back together like nothing happened & Megan and Billie have unfollowed each other
