What’s your point?
Financially I’m not in a position to buy a house but I could comfortably afford a car on finance if I wanted it.
Why can’t someone live in a council place and have a decent car on finance?

I thought the eligibility for a council house included being on low income, nearly homeless etc? It’s hardly a basic car that gets her from a to b. Just find that interesting

Mistake me if I'm wrong but wasn't TMG on her slating another gossip page for not bringing real tea so she was like I think I'll make one amd a few was saying yeah they'll add it. If anyone wants to do the dirty work and skip a couple of treads back and Check but I think it was just before all the pancake lady buisnsss started
No that was a different member, she was in the middle of making her account and TMG then suddenly appeared before she could let us know what her account was

No not really. Anyone is eligible to apply for one. When I was single and living alonr working full time as a Nurse in a GP Surgery I got a council house. I wanted to spend as little on rent so I could save for a mortgage. You are put into categories / bands and depending on your band A, B, C D etc you bid on the house that you want. Obvs if a band A wants it they get it over the band D.

If that makes sense. So anyone from any walk of like can apply.

Exactly ref council housing and depending how many are available in the area depends how quick you will get one, and what you would accept. There seems to be an abundance of council flats down south, which is what Megan has. Plus nothing to stop you living council to begin with then getting a better job/earning more money and getting a nice car.

Also, didn’t Megan live in a mother and baby unit before she got her flat?(how she met Reanne) This would have put her on probably the highest band/priority x

Actually somebody with some common sense as the stereotypes I have seen on here about council houses 🤣I wish I lived in a council house affordable rent and some of their houses are really nice.Ie: spacious rooms large gardens etc:

Sounds a bit suspicious she could of just said it to cover her tracks
No, the one who made the account and went private and that posted proof it wasn’t her, we all asked her if that was her account and she showed her account that she made because it was like teamum or something a couple of us on here follow her account. So I don’t think it is her

No if you’re faced with homelessness you’re just a higher priority of getting one than someone who isn’t

I think all those stereo types are really old fashioned and maybe go back to when social housing was seen as really bad, and the government wanted to sell them. I’ve never been anywhere near the top of the list for a house, I was 18 and pregnant and chucked out so homeless but once we got a private rental we basically kissed goodbye to getting a home. I was a single mom on benefits, still couldn’t get a house… I worked out that I’ve paid approx £75k in rent since I left home. My 3 bed is £800 a month, and it’s really a trap. I’d totally own my house if it was council/social but that 75k (a modest estimate) is money down the drain and doesn’t even go towards your credit rating!!! Such a stupid insult to laugh at someone for having a council house 🥲
Council homes ARE means tested on need, not finances.

I’m in a council house. 3 bed new build and pay £700 a month😭 even with my job as a teacher I’d never be able to afford to save for a mortgage. It’s like they set people up to fail!

Is buying your hone an option? All I hope is that I can let my kids stay at home until they’re in a position to buy 🙏🏻 I know I’m getting a banging deal on my rent; I finally found a really great landlord but it sure took a while to get there!

Council houses are sometimes half the price of private rentals in the same exact areas . It’s also more secure than private rentals as it’s basically yours for life if that’s where you want to stay forever! They also keep everything in the property more safe and up to date than most private landlords (some can be a nightmare!) It just makes so much more logical sense if you cannot buy your own home, no matter your circumstance.. gone way off topic 😭

So living in a council house is something to be ashamed of but it’s cool to rent off a random landlord and pay inflated rates to help them pay their mortgage off?🤔. Pretty sad that people make such sweeping assumptions about people that live in council housing and also wayyyy off the mark.
That is what I don't get they would rather private rent & be paying extortionate rent just to look down their noses at people leaving in council affordable housing make it make sense please 😭

Definitely outdated mentality's as that 75k you have paid out in rent just alone could of went towards owing your own home or atleast for a deposit

Yeah literally this! I’m gonna be homeless in 5 months if I don’t get offered a council home or find another private rental. Yay 💔

sorry off topic, I know some councils work differently but most will push you to the brink of despair but they won’t let you be homeless, you may have to go in emergency accommodation but it’s worth it in the end.
I was private renting and kept finding myself in the same situation as yourself, finding new rentals which is so costly. I had to wait until a bailiff turned up and packed essentials in our car. Totally degrading, stressful, upsetting and so wrong on so many levels but councils are so savage these days and honestly don’t give a duck but 2 years later I’m in a lovely secure flat 💙
