It is illegal, a man I know has recently this last week got his bank account shut down and is having an interview because someone snitched on him for facebook raffles. Can get you into loads of trouble, especially with mr tax man. That’s why they usually ask you to not put “raffle” as the bank/paypal reference when you send money.

If I remember correctly (I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong) in a q and a, Charlie accused Brett of being violent just after they broke up so it's not the first time it's been said

Isn’t it illegal to run raffles like that?

It is, you are legally only allowed to raffle for a good cause or charity. It is in fact illegal to raffle for profit Individually or as a business. The way to get around it is to make it a competition and have participants answer a multiple choice question. Some people who raffled their houses off got into a lot of legal trouble, and the ones that do it in a legal way have to pay about six grand in legal fees. I hate exploration like this-who is to say she won’t keep the watch and the money pretending one of her friends won it.
