I think there was a post on Neutral Swifties about how the lack of marketing is probably a reaction to people feeling misled about the way Midnights was marketed and I think that’s probably pretty close to the answerI wonder why she hasn’t done much for TTPD? I don’t see the need of this release now tbh and i feel her new label just says yes to whatever she does even when perhaps some sage advice could do wonders (I.e lover need a cull on the track list). Has she got a contract she wants to fulfil with them quickly and then strike out on her own?
Even the hints of concept we have gotten don’t make a very complete image. The closest is probably the whole thing with the typewriter and academia-inspired fashion (that was ditched very quickly lol)
Granted, it still feels lazy. She has a basically unlimited amount of money to be hiring the best people to market this for her - stylists, PR specialists, puzzle-type people if she really wanted to. Yet everything we have seen is pretty uninspiring…
I’d love to know if the problem is that she’s a control freak and actually has a lot of input into everything she does or if it’s at a point where the “yes men” are too scared to suggest something she doesn’t like. At the end of the day, her PR is set up in a way where she gets credit for everything they do anyway as she has been set up as some mastermind with the best PR sense ever
