I think it must be incredibly hard NOT to feel bragging and big if you are Taylor Swift right now. Not to say it sits comfortably with me, it doesn't, but she has been validated over and over again in her behaviour.

Also I agree re at the time of TSisoverparty, it really felt like people were all jumping on board the cancellation (the toxic gossip train, anyone?!) and ready to declare her done, that they'd always thought she was fake and untalented etc. It was kind of the opposite of what's happening now - everyone following suit and letting out their inner Swiftie, but then it was everyone following suit and reinforcing the suggestion that she was talentless, dramatic and slutty. I remember it being bad and I'm sure very damaging to be on the receiving end of. I bet the stans couldn't imagine it now!

@EnoughAlready I'm very much aligned with how you're feeling.

I also got this sense of her thinking she's too big to cancel now, bragging a bit much.
I dont think she believes she’s too big to cancel but I do think she’s realised you can’t actually be cancelled if you just continue to work and ignore what’s being said or going on around you.
She chose to go in to hiding, she could have carried on making music and the fans would have still listened.
The people who tweeted Taylorswiftsoverparty weren’t listening to her music anyway.

I also think it was a mistake to talk about Travis in the Times piece. She should have given a few quotes to a friendly outlet like People. Using a big accomplishment like Time to talk about the guy you’ve known a wet weekend isn’t it.

Omg yes, such a good point! This was about her career!

After how puffy and fluffy this interview was I'm ever more grateful they didn't choose someone else. What would they have asked Putin? "Vlad, you're fond of shirtless pictures, tell us, what's your routine? How many calories does invading countries burn?"

It kinda reads to me like Taylor feels like she has to justify her decisions which is just sad. If she's happy with this relationship being more public than the last one then that's fair enough, but she doesn't have to explain why to thousands of strangers. I dunno if it's just me, but it comes across as a bit defensive.

It also seems like she's implying that you can't be proud of your partner whilst also being private about the relationship and that's just not true. She and Joe were private about each other but he still went to her shows and she went to premieres & after parties with him.

Imagine being so happy in a new relationship and yet continuing to make digs at your exes. She has a lot in common with my first serious boyfriend 🤣

I don't believe she's actually, truly happy. I think she's gleefully, lustfully distracted but not actually innerly happy. To paraphrase Legally Blonde: Happy people don't make digs at exes. They just don't.

I actually thought it was such a small part of the whole article. Which overall I didn’t find particularly insightful or interesting - like I already knew a lot of it already?

I do think the whole ‘I was cancelled, my career was over’ in 2016 feels a tad over egged - was it over? Not like old tweets came out or she killed/SA anyone. Also hardly like people like Kanye or kim k anyway!

Definitely think it's a dig at Joe, and think it's very immature and a bit "the lady doth protest too much". She could easily have said how happy she is with her current relationship being public, and left it at that, but she went on to explicitly say words to the effect of 'unlike the other extreme' which is obviously pointed (imo).
I'm not sure what to make of her getting the award tbh, like in one way she (as in the brand) is a jaggernaut, crashing through glass ceilings, helping economies wherever she tours, making all sorts of waves in the music (and movie!) industry. At the same time, it's not like she's brought about world peace, but then again, see the other shortlisted nominees, I'm maybe placing too much value on the title! Anyway, I hope things like this maybe make her a bit more conscious of her power/influence, particularly in light of her acquaintances and the company she keeps (looking at the Mahomes etc), but I think we all know, Taylor will continue to do whatever Taylor wants to do.
I should say, I hope I don't come across overly negative, just a few things recently have made me look at her differently, but when it comes to her music/creativity, she's still the goat (again, imho).

Oh totally @Tadpole. I don't think any of us here "hates" her or thinks the PR blunders take away from her talent and art. If anything I have the feeling that any critical thoughts on her come from us appreciating and valuing her music and her artistry so much that we wish she wouldn't let the other stuff take center stage or take away attention from what we most value from her. Which isn't her pap walks or her style or her love life.

Just for reference this year:

January 12th - Taylor at The 1975
April 8th - People announce its Jover
May 3rd - The Sun says Taylor is dating Matty
May 5th - “this song is about you, you know who you are, I love you”, Matty in audience
May 6th - Matty and Taylor photographed in the car together. They go out publicly together after this
June 5th - TMZ reports they’ve broken up
July 7th/8th - Taylor plays Kansas City and Travis attends
July 26th - New Heights podcast where Travis says he wanted to give Taylor his number on a friendship bracelet (Basically they started talking then)
September 24th - Taylor at her first Chiefs game

The whole “happiest I’ve ever been” sounds so old, that’s what every celebrity says whenever they’re in a new “era”.

I feel like Taylor is yet to find a balance between hiding away from the world and shutting down completely which very obviously isn’t her nature and making a show out of herself and her personal life for public consumption to the point of trying to rewrite history on things that were already well established as a part of her “lore”.

Reading this interview does make you feel like Taylor is still stuck in an early 20s mentality which makes sense since it’s when her fame skyrocketed. I don’t at all believe she’s 100% secure in herself and her choices as she claims to be, the whole thing still screams mirrorball to me.

Honestly questioning whether the Matty thing was a 1989 collab but the backlash meant it wasn’t released.
Obviously Taylor and Joe might have broken up before it was announced, especially if they were having problems for a while so that would alter the timeline

I'm inclined to think they were having issues but weren't broken up. She still had Invisible String in the lineup until the breakup was confirmed. Then she switched it.

Yeah I’d just be surprised if they ended it and announced it so quickly as they could have ended up back together. It makes sense if they had issues and it was a long time coming but not agreed yet
