Tanya Burr #18 Run out of money so back to where it started. The only thing she was remotely good at.

Funnily enough I was looking at the Lily Pebbles thread and someone posted a vlog from a few years ago before they all had children. It was Lily and husband, Anna Edit and wierd husband, and Tanya and Jim all meeting up for brunch.
So wierd to see it.

Why is she SO BAD at holding the camera? In EVERY video! Jfc she has somehow regressed in her (minimal) abilities.
Every shot is shaky, zoomed in too far, and just...annoying to to watch. It's like being in a tornado.

Also, she's drowning in that floor-length coat. Even the sleeves look ridiculous.

Given square footage and doer upper approach I’m guessing she’ll plug in a decent chunk of the saving difference into renovation so if it’s all done up / she sits on it for a few years it could be worth a lot more than she paid for it
Was it really a doer upper though? 🤣 it was fine as it was and she’s gone in and removed a bathroom which removes value. Maybe someone with some sense could’ve added value, but Tanya? Errrr

Tufnell Park has had a bit of gentrification, it has a really nice parade of shops which are all expensive bougie cafes, independent grocery stores, and a really nice pilates studio. Plus it's ten mins on the bus to the new development at King's Cross which is full of fancy shops and restaurants, and an Everyman cinema, Tan's fave. When there's an area thats near nice areas but is a lot cheaper, it doesn't take long in London to become a whole lot more middle class. The place will be full of Tanya's type, and like her they will spend all their time in Highgate and Hampstead, pretending that's their area. Her house is nice and way bigger than Jim's, and it's also (as Tanya said) easier to get to King's Cross for her trains to Norfolk.

She's had such a break from Jim. Literally the only thing in her life connected to him now is their mutual friends, and Zoe and Alfie made it clear who's more important to them when they invited Tanya to Ottie's party. Maybe they invited Jim too.... but that's really doubtful.

Oh I'm familiar with both areas - I live in London :') I just couldn't picture her in an area that is relatively rough compared to her previous area (like, no rougher than a ballpit).

Where did Jim end up settling down?

New house is cheaper. In a much worse area. And is only marginally bigger than the last one. Apart from being marginally easier to get to Norfolk the only other explanation for the move is that she needed to free up some cash. No one in their right mind trades a leafy part of Fulham for Tufnell Park. It may be marginally gentrified, but that’s coming from a pretty low base. Plus the particular location of her house near that bus terminal? No thank you!

Isn’t they new house though in a cheaper area slightly bigger with more of a garden? Also I do get that the old house the main living space was basement level which isn’t ideal (was a lovely space though) and she had her dressing room by the front door so the flow of the house was a bit awkward.

I also think it’s was always going to be hers and Jim’s house they had together with bad memories in and she never would have wanted to stay there so I can totally see why she’s moved. She wasn’t going to get this house in her old area was she as would have been too expensive??

When she did her house tour of the old house the dressing room was on the ground floor, its opposite the front door as you come in. She spoke about this and showed it in the tour.. don’t need to have been to her house 🤔 to know that.
She spoke about how the main living space (kitchen, diner, lounge was in the basement). They then had a more formal living room and piano room (basically 1 room as knocked through) on the ground floor. This is also where they hanged all their coats so if was kinda a gloriefied entryway and she said they didnt use the room much. They spent most of their time in the basement.
In my opinion the new house has a much better layout. Not nearly as nice location but slightly bigger, an actual garden instead of a courtyard too.

Wouldn't call that right by the door
