Reform got twice the vote of the Green Party and the same number of seats (or one more if a recount this afternoon goes their way).

Which, even as a Green supporter, is an indictment of the voting system. It'll never change, but we need something more like Ireland. Or at push something like the German system.
What’s the German system, is it PR?
Not too sure about Ireland as the govt seem to propose referendums without any public consultation.

The German system is MMP, so you have a constituency MP but also vote for a list. So for me for example I would have an MP for Sherwood, but some PR List MPs for the East Midlands.

In terms of Ireland I was talking solely about the vote system, not the referendums.

It’s kind of similar to Scotland, they have two votes - plurality then list
Germany is federal too
(Making use of my politics degree here loool)
Yeah I am glad the tories are out but I would like to have seen a more credible opposition to them as don’t think any party should get a free run regardless of their views.

Thanks. That is interesting to learn about and I wasn’t having a go about the referendums to you personally so apologies if it came across that way. I do think a kind of PR system would be more representative. In NI there is the STV system but then when they get into stormont things can get squashed by the unionist/nationalist requirements which I think should probably change.
I’ll look up MMP as wasn’t familiar with it.

My take on PR is that it doesn’t work. It’s designed to ensure there is representation of a range of views but it’s a bleeping disaster when trying to get any meaningful legislation through. It’s a joke to pretend everyone’s going to get on and do cross-party bills in the public’s interest.

When the SNP first governed in 2007 they ironically relied on the Tories to govern. But the SNP-Green power sharing deal has been catastrophic for Scotland, as we’ve seen with the collapse of their deposit return policy - because the Greens have no idea what the public actually cares about or what is meaningful to them. SG is literally being sued for millions from this. It’s led to the SNP having to govern as a minority (and arguably part of the reason they’ve done so shite in the GE). The Greens shouldn’t have had such a stronghold in Govt anyway. 2 List MSPs ended up as bleeping ministers - Lorna Slater only had 6k votes to get a £100k+ salary!!

Tan, people screenshotting your publicly viewable content and laughing at you (and presumably not tagging you in or retweeting you) isn't harassment

Found the alleged harassment

The weakest patter imaginable links to her tweeting a can of "Tory Fanta" (orange San Pellegrino) and saying it's Tory tears

Tan, your entire online presence is derived from shitting on people

bleeping hell. Every other commentator must have been asleep or hungover if they were considering Tan. Then again, wasn’t that the same station that used to have ‘internet prankster’ Simon Harris on quite a bit before he ended up being a con artist.

Amazing that Labour get in just months after Little Owen Jones left them for the bleeping weirdo Green Party.

She doesn’t seem to get that people can have more than one thought in their heads. We can dislike tories and also think she is a twit.
or we can like or dislike individual Tory or Labour or whatever candidates for many m reasons and still think she is a twit. There’s a common denominator here and I don’t think it is the tories. Looking forward to seeing how she tries to keep the grift now.

4 million kids in poverty = ko-fi me

The lighting and the mood are massively juxtaposed.

I don't understand how it worked. Did they have a DJ going while the results were coming in on a screen? So you're bopping around to Fatboy Slim then "ooh Redcar's turned red" and then you go back to bopping? Or were they all stood watching BBC Election Night? Did none of them have work to go to today? I don't GET IT.

Making vids with a bajillion jump-cuts, wearing a Peter Pan collar and saying “dystopia warning”, plus calling the Tories ‘twatbadgers’ has really helped relieve the child poverty where I reside, Tan.

I live across from the food bank and this afternoon there were precisely 0% less parents queuing up than this time last week! Great work! Thanks for all that you do. Crack open another train beer to celebrate a fantastic win… 🙄

I assume they have some cringe bands like IDLES or Fat White Family playing at a moderate volume so people can bray loudly over the top of the music and agree with each other. And then you hope that Tan comes up to you and says she likes your Tories are Spunkbadgers T-shirt.

I’m sure most of them have moderately well-paid IT jobs, so probably took a day of annual leave today and their co-workers were relieved.

I think pure PR Lists, a la The Netherlands or Belgium, don't work, for the reasons you say. Germany and New Zealand (and to an extent Scotland) seem to do a bit better.
