I've said before that they should give Karen the podcast gig that Joe Sugg has. Easy way to try her out in a presenting role rather than the baptism of fire Janette got and cancels out any ageism claims by dropping her entirely from the show.

Janette should be gone from ITT - they couldn't let her go last year because she was returning after maternity leave, but she's had 3 series and is still hopeless at interviewing, and lacks any ability to go off-script. There's a whole myriad of ex contestants who are trained presenters and would be better. Ellie Taylor, Angela Scanlon, Helen Skelton etc.

Doesn't help with Janette that there aren't very many regular guests on her shows to build a rapport with other than awkward Vicky Gill. I thought Fleur had a pretty good chemistry with Joanne Clifton in the Choreography Corner slot last year, but none of that with Janette. The Ian Waite segment got dropped when she came on.

I thought that could’ve been it too but turns out she’s just not the right fit. I mean the pros are on it every day and she knows all of them, some of them even decades. But she still can’t leave the script and even then reads it awkwardly. And anyway her presenting abilities shouldn’t rely on the guests. Fleurs a lot better but even though she’s good at improvising I still think she’s a bit awkward. I think its time to give it to Angela Scanlon or Ellie Taylor…

I was surprised that I thought Janette was ok on the tour. It’s very much scripted though isn’t it? Also I laughed at Anton more than once so I suspect the adrenaline from the tour made me more forgiving.

No I still cringed at Neil and laughed when Dianne got her heel caught in her dress again and was disappointed when she didn’t fall.

Adrenaline or not I’m a witch 😂

I’m with you. I thought on the tour, I found Janette better but on ITT she’s awful!

Changing subject and maybe not the thread for this discussion but has anyone watched Ellie on this Drama Queens show? If anyone has seen it, how do they think she’s coming across? I’ve found her quite immature for a 23 year old woman. Literally crying about missing her mum

Anton is actually fun on tour, to his credit he is good at being the showman and interacting with the crowds. I suspect the fact that it's scripted helps both him & Janette, neither are good ad-libbers. Janette also thrives on the high energy which you just don't get on ITT.

Neil's dancing really looked middle-aged compared to the others in the January tour, and Bobby was just as annoying.

I haven't seen it, but a month or so ago, I attended the Cluedo 2 launch press night. Ellie was there and honestly spent almost every minute talking to her mum - others had to approach her if they wanted to speak to her, as she really was locked in convo with her mum and not seeming to want to mingle. It was her first theatre opportunity so seemed really odd to me not to spend it with the cast and guests. She doesn't seem very well adjusted for a woman her age.

I think I remember reading your post at the time.
It seems a bit unprofessional at a press night that she would be locked in conversation with her mum don’t you think?
I’ve watched bits of two episodes now (I won’t be watching anymore it’s not the best 😂) but she comes across very childish for a 23 year old and to say she’s been on one of the biggest shows on TV and won it, she just seems too much of an introvert for that world. Her mum treats her like she’s 12!

Neil really stuck out like a sore thumb at the tour (I’m aware that I am allergic to saying anything nice about Neil) Jojo is only 4 years younger than him but can easily keep up. Neil is the Gary Barlow of the professionals.

I saw a couple of episodes and she was pretty much how I expected her to be. She’s a nice girl but is very young for her age. I think having the same job from when she was a child kept her in a bubble where she was looked at as a kid. Still living at home with her mum doing her cooking, washing etc. when Ellie had a long-term serious boyfriend and was clearly earning a decent income suggests that she has been babied at home. I hope that the Strictly and Cluedo tours help her to grow in confidence and become a bit more independent.

I have to agree.
She’s been in that Corrie bubble for years, living at home, yet she’d been with her boyfriend for like 5 years but living at home.
She’s definitely been babied by her mum.
Hopefully, this tour she’s on will help her grow up a bit.
