I don't really get the 'tit line-up' stuff. Some of my favourite contestants ever have been relative nobodies or at least big surprises once they hit the dancefloor: Hamza, Danny Mac, Jay.. Tilly Ramsay was a total 'ugh, her?' and ended up being great. I wasn't particularly a fan of Zara but she came across well last year and did her best (and god knows what was actually going on behind the scenes).

Whereas some of the 'bigger names' have been big letdowns: Greg Wise, Caroline Quentin, Matt Goss..

People fail to realise this. They also spend weeks moaning about the lineup after the reveals but then after week 1 they love them all anyway. Like save your energy and just wait until the show actually starts before saying you will boycott 😂

Omg yes expected to love Tom from Mcfly because of my huge teenage crush of him when I was 13 and hated him. Love will mellor and hated him on strictly.
Knew Ranger Hamza from Cbeebies and he was amazing same with the news guy I can't remember his name.

Think there's always space for a couple of lesser knowns, particularly if they can dance. Problem is when a good chunk of the cast is barely known and also those celebs don't bring much to the show (hello 2019 & 2022 casts).

in 2022 I'd say only Molly and Hamza were barely known? And maybe Jayde - the first two both finalists obv and Jayde brought us her iconic sitting on the floor and pubes.

Like I could have lived without James Bye or Kaye Adams but they are from big, recognisable shows.

I agree. Tbh, I often haven't heard of quite a few of them. And it doesn't take from my enjoyment. I like seeing how they get on and I suppose I have no preconceived ideas about them when I don't know them.

Matt Goss was quite sweet really, imo. I used to enjoy him on ITT with Rylan, it was the only time he seemed totally at ease. CW - shudder. I still remember her licking poor JoJo's face. Ugh. What a horrible thing to do to someone. So disrespectful.
I remember Greg Wise in that dreadful costume for his final night. 🤣

Last year, Nikita Kanda and Zara were two complete unknowns to me. I still enjoyed their performances and getting to see what they were like. I wish it had been a better experience for poor Zara, of course. I enjoyed Nikita Kanda and Gorka. She wasn't going to get far but she seemed to be lovely and always put in an upbeat performance.

I'm rambling on but in summary, a big name can be a disappointment and an unknown can really grow on the viewers.
