Annabel - I loved her dress. Thought she was pretty decent, despite the mistake, Craig was a bit harsh with the 5.
Nigel - I'm starting to worry he's not as good as expected. He stumbled in the camera blocking run as well. The rest of it was pretty good though. Loved the beginning and the end. Thought Katya's dress was awful when she came down the stairs but the lighting made it look much better during the dance.
Eddie - It just seemed a bit slow and flat, I was hoping for better. Seems like he's just given up really, his Cha Cha was so much more energetic and joyous. I'm hesitant to entirely blame Karen but clearly something just hasn't worked out with this pairing.
Krishnan - Had a bit of trouble focusing on anything but one of the worst cases of a great song being slaughtered by the alleged 'singers' Definitely a big improvement from his Foxtrot and aww, bless him, the end was so endearing.
Angela S - I really liked it, I thought she improved from last week, and felt the judges were very harsh on them. I liked Carlos' choreography as well. Molly's Foxtrot was similar and I thought both were sweet and endearing, though I can see how it's too saccharine for some. The (awful) song seemed to lend itself to a fast, skippy dance, if it wasn't smooth enough that's production's fault. Watching it again I can see there wasn't enough in hold, but oh well, so many dances were boring as fuck this week, I found hers and Krishnan's the most fun, as well as Layton's. Also, was amazed they managed to find a shade of pink that looked good with her hair.
Ellie - It wasn't quite 10s for me, I prefer a more traditional Paso, but she definitely did very well and it was just so lovely to see Vito's happy, proud little face, especially when Craig complimented his choreography/teaching.
Layton - Didn't enjoy it as much as last week, too much side by side for me, but still very good. Nikita jumping on tables already, slightly terrified of how excited he'll be in a few weeks time. Poor JoJo, I detected a hint of a thousand yard stare when they were in the Clauditorium, bet he's wishing Annabel had not beaten Layton in having her pro request granted.
Bobby - Dianne's dress was gorgeous and that was the best thing about the routine. Praying for a Mellor-style bussing in the QF/SF, because at the moment I'm having grave fears that the judges are being so easy on him because he's miles ahead in the votes. The frame was a mess and he can't even fix it because of the height problem. Still, I'm glad Nadiya doesn't have to put up with him. I feel like he doesn't finish his lines properly either? I thought the choreography was decent, but all the faffing to avoid being in hold shouldn't equal 8s and 9s, it wasn't any better than Angela S.
Adam - I didn't think it was awful, at least it wasn't Molly and Carlos or Dan and Nadiya levels of cringe, but he didn't really do much did he? It was 7s at absolute best, Anton is on crack. He was much better last week (actually I think any other week, even week 1) yet Anton comes out with all this 'your best dance yet' malarky. What I wouldn't pay for them to bin street dance, or at the very least, only give it to celebs who can actually do it decently. Also, he comes off like an absolute knob who really thinks he's much better than he is. I noticed poor Carlos looked a bit dejected at that crap getting such high scores, Neil gave him a little shoulder squeeze, aww.
Zara - Graz's choreography was perfect last week, unfortunately not quite so much this week. They obviously spent a bit too much time on the lifts, but at least they were good, though not great.
Angela R - The routine bored me, there weren't enough kicky flicky bits, think she's running out of energy. Which, like, fair enough, she's still doing better than I would, but the scores shouldn't be that ridiculously overinflated for her age. Jody didn't get that kind of leniency. It was OK, but nowhere near her best dance but the scores still went up. Are they going to give her 11s when she does a Waltz? Also, seriously, is Anton OK? He was a pro for 75 million years, why the fuck did he think Kai choreographed an Argentine Tango?
I didn't particularly think he was dead, but still had a little 'oh wow he's still alive' moment at Filch/Walder Frey in the audience
Didn't miss Amanda at all, hope she comes back to not fuck up the final though.
Feel a bit bad for Eddie, he seemed to have potential and something went wrong, but glad Zara gets another week, she seems to be getting more out of the experience, even though she's not a natural dancer. I feel dance choice will play a big part in whether it's Zara or Adam who goes next week.
I've been browbeaten into liking Adam (he's loud but seems to have his heart in the right place, and seems really supportive of all the other contestants) but think we all could've done without that couple's choice
not surprised to zara in the bottom. WIll all depend on who else is in the bottom now. If its eddie she might be safe.
