It’s not the most mainstream of stations so the “who” and “barrel scraping” are quite understandable as I’m not sure there’s much crossover between your average kissfm listener and the average strictly viewer. I just hope he isn’t going to be super desperate for fame one that pops up every now and then. I’m sure he’ll be fine but I’ve got a few reservations.

I think the pros are relieved to get a duffer occasionally. They're on a set rate, iirc. A deep run raises their profile, obviously, but it must be knackering teaching a new dance every week for three months.

I expect they'll cast a few athletes from the Commonwealth Games. I could see Katarina Johnson-Thompson giving it a go if schedule allows. Wouldn't be surprised if they recruit a tall swimmer. Is Una Healy the only member of the Saturdays not to give it a go? Could be her turn.

Agreed. If they are fairly new and want to establish themselves then I can understand wanting to stay in as long as possible. But if they've been around for 5 years and already won, I imagine the odd year with a duffer is appealing if it means several weeks to chill and support from the sidelines. Not every year though.

Anton was flipping outraged the years he got to the finals with Katie and Emma. You could see the look in his eyes was one of pure frustration.

He was clearly hissing "Darlings I'm supposed to be gone by Week 3 so I can do my Christmas shopping, promote my book on the One Show, go for several good dinners with the chaps at my club and improve my golf handicap. What do you mean, I need to do THREE dances in the final?"
 
Haven’t been on the Strictly thread since the end of last series. Very much looking forward to the Saturday night commentary and slagging off of outfits and facial expressions. I am very happy to see Matt Goss in the line up. That’s the comedy value sorted. If Jane MacDonald becomes a contestant that would be all of my Saturday night entertainment dreams sorted.
