Vito's mum and Fleur's husband could be part of another throuple!

Wonder what will happen to the Hamzita shippers now? I imagine Hamza is back off to Scotland, though of course there is always the tour..

I see DS is having a normal come-down post-final: Shirley needs to resign, the show should be axed, it was a fix.. Do they actually get any pleasure in it??
BIB - One DS poster said 'wasted thirteen weeks of my life'. WTF?

Agree with others re lovely new pros, and delighted to see them get to the final. I ♥️ Vito especially and loved his partnership with Fleur.

And Jowita winning, in her first year with a. partner, woohoo!
Still newish imo, amd I absolutely adore him - Nikita. 😁
His reactions in the audience, on various nights, were hilarious. I also think he and Ellie S deserve great credit for what they achieved together, and they seemed really fond of each other.

I saw this suggestion on DS and I would love it. Have a chat in the clauditorium with all four finalists and partners, after the winner is announced.
Or as we have often suggested here, have one last ITT with them.
It just all feels rushed at the end - after filling up time talking to randomers about what they thought - so they could drop that bit and have a chat instead. I know it's probably down to timings and so forth, but I can dream 😁

I would LOVE an ITT tonight, once everyone has calmed down. Everyone was so emotional last week that it would be nice for them to chat with that pressure lifted. But yeah, never gonna happen. I guess someone might pop up on Loose Women, or The One Show.
Or film something with them after the result, even quickly. I know the stuff earlier in the show is filler while they count the votes but hearing randomers in Tesco saying how much they loved James in his bee costume is very wtf.

BIB - exactly! 😁 I can make up lines like that in my head if I want to 🤣.

I would much prefer a bit of time devoted to the finalists.

Rylan was there watching the final. If they can't be bothered with an actual ITT he should get a mic and interview them all afterwards. Sort of a "behind the scenes" thing and air that on the Monday instead!

They had Zoe Ball doing some interviews in the Clauditorium with the finalists post final in Jay's year, think they went out online or something. That could be an option to have Rylan do that and then it goes out on YouTube.

Not sure a post final live ITT episode would do that well in ratings.

What do you all mean by ringer though? the contestants that have actually had dance training are always 'found out'. Surely it's best to just get a celeb under 60 who is fit enough and turns out can really dance (ie. Bill or Hamza)?

There's no set definition as it is a term from the strictly fandom (mostly started by the DS forum) but I believe its someone who has had extensive dance experience. I'm not talking about ballet classes when the contestant was 3 or tap dancing when the contestant was 12 (didnt we all do some sort of dancing when we were kids 😅) but actual lessons from in your teenage years to going into your twenties.

Contestants who I can say were ringers are:

Ashley Roberts - Probably the biggest ringer there ever was - Studied dancing growing up throughout her childhood and teens then was in The Pussycat Dolls which was a dance group as well as pop group.
Danny Mac - Went to Arts Ed which is a performing arts school where he was taught dance, was also in musicals.
Jay McGuiness - Studied dance growing up - Went to the Charlotte Hamilton School of Dance and went to Midlands Academy of Dance and Drama.
HRVY - While theres nothing out there to say he studied dance growing up he did have hip hop dance lessons for dancing in his music videos.
Faye Tozer - Did plenty of dancing in Steps, in music videos and on tours.

These are some from recent memory.

Obviously there are some contestants who just naturally take to dancing to some extent without ever having dance lessons or studying dancing growing up.

i would add professional ballet dancer debbie mcgee to your list too!

i truly don’t believe danny mac/hrvy/faye were “ringers”. being in musicals doesn’t count for much these days as there’s not much hardcore dancing involved in them. likewise having hip hop lessons and doing very basic pop dance routines doesn’t mean you’re going to be good at ballroom/latin.

it also always gets ignored that being a musician makes you just as much of a “ringer”, if we’re using going to a performing arts school as a base. harry judd was a drummer and so already had impeccable rhythm and musicality. likewise bill bailey, who can play a huge number of instruments. you can’t teach rhythm really!

Oh yes Debbie deffo was as well!

No one out of the ringers studied ballroom/latin I believe; ballroom/latin is a very specific sort of dancing so unless you go to those actual classes then you will not study it elsewhere.

Studying dancing beforehand does not mean you will automatically be amazing at ballroom/latin but I think it goes without saying that the ones who studied it perhaps the longest eg. Ashley, Danny and Jay did really well.

this is exactly why the “ringer” conversation gets confusing and convoluted tbh. like you say, it’s rare that they’ve ever studied ballroom and latin. it should only be mentioned when someone has been an actual professional dancer and made a living off dancing - of which we’ve only ever had debbie and ashley.

getting into the details of what stage school does and doesn’t teach you, what dance classes a contestant may have attended etc just doesn’t really achieve anything. given that the bbc will always try and pick some young actors and musicians it’s almost certain they will have been to stage school, slapping them with a ringer label from the start is just unfair.

Yeah, I think I'd prefer this. I just want to see Katya work her magic with somebody who not only has her insane stamina but great performance skills.
Katya deserves to be able to show off her choreo and batshit routines. Want this to happen next year now.

She's the only pro who has irreplaceable vibes, because nobody can do what Katya can do in terms of choreo and taking a duffer to levels nobody else dreamed of.

Thats why the term 'ringer' was created I believe as you will rarely will get a an actual contestant who actually made a living as a dancer full time but something was needed to be used to describe someone who has had quite a number of years of dance training; someone you can tell has performed as dancer to some degree before.

I reiterate the contestants who studied dancing the longest eg. Danny, Jay and Ashley you could tell watching them they had dance training.

I really like all 3 new pros - good casting there. I’m really happy for Jowita being the first female pro to win on her first year with a partner and with one that surprised everyone and possibly least known male celeb at the beginning. I have a feeling Jowita, Vito and Carlos will become fan favourites - especially Vito and Jowita.
Thinking about it, Jowita had everything stacked against her winning - a new pro, a celeb that hardly anyone knew and one that seemed unlikely to win due to his size (before anyone jumps on me, I am not sizest at all but when has anyone who is larger than average won or even got to the final - did Lisa Riley get to the final?) So major kudos to Jowita for pulling this off 🙂

If nothing else, the late night ITT last Monday shows that it is possible to have one later and live … so one after the final has finished wouldn’t be impossible.

id also start then a week earlier as well as a getting to know the celebs week rather than going into the first dances cold.
