Actually I agree. There is something missing and I can't put my finger on what it is.
I think the judges constant overmarking has played a large part.

I’m glad it’s not just me. I think you’re right about the overmarking. The judges keep telling us that so many dances are incredible and will go down in Strictly history but I don’t agree.

Last year’s semi-finalists had all produced dances that wowed me across the series whereas I’m not sure a single dance has truly stood out for me this year despite the judges raving about so many of them.
