Why is Katya crying?

On It Takes Two every week they talk about how much he practises, and how hard he tries, and how much he improves in the training room.

...and then every week (bar last week) he comes out onto the dancefloor and all her patient drilling of moves and timing and technique just flies out his poor head, he nearly kills her in 50% of the lifts, and the judges patronise him to death. I'd be a bit dispirited too by this point, if I was Katya.
