I understood how you meant that an I don't think you meant it the way it come out

To be fair it's not the BBC that does this, as someone who grew up in the world of dance which included this type I definitely seen the ugly, the nasty, and the unfair side of it and somtimes it's was less about the dancing and the talent an quality of the dancing and more about making sure they didn't feel they were "discriminating" certain others when truthfully some were sneaky, rubbish or just "showed up" there was many times certain people were put into the finals because of colour, disability or sexuality and none of it was based on their dancing, one male couple especially always stands out in my mind, both of them were downright arrogant, rude, would try an sabotage other dancers but constantly got through because they would kick off an use the "it's is because we are two males" as a excuse an being that places didn't want to come accross as being like that they were always in the finals 🙄

It's sad an I know not everyone is like that, honestly I've seen many many couples who are in the minority be truely amazing dancers but I do understand that somtimes not everyone that's getting where they are is based on what how they do
