It would be GREAT to see a documentary on this issue and have Ellis and Georgia talking about their POVs, along with others.
Not only to raise awareness of the issue, which is so important, needs the attention, and which is still only fairly newly addressed by law and only partially I believe (I think you have to prove that revenge porn was intended to cause distress or harm in order to get a conviction -
@stunrw may be able to confirm), but also to raise awareness of HER case. I have lost count of the number of bloody brainless idiots who, rather than taking 5 minutes to read the article, jump to comment in droves underneath it to attack her - Calling her an idiot for making a sex tape, saying she’s a slag etc, saying it’s her fault for making one, what does she expect, saying women need to use more common sense. It’s
bleeping unbelievable!
I have replied to so many of these to explain the facts. Some comments have then been deleted and others tried to argue back with odd (stupid) points (a guy last night said she had to have known he had CCTV and she was only mad because he sold it before she could, and then when he ran out of arguments because I was embarrassing and correcting him, stooped to the desperate digression of “she had sex with her ex? Classy!”)
Misinformation in general is rife, so are misogyny and sexism, and people do simply interpret from a headline. She’s basically going through a big round 2 of abuse because people don’t bother to read that she didn’t consent to nor did she know she was being filmed.
Headlines shouldn’t say “sex tape” either, because then people do assume it was knowingly filmed by both parties and not just one. They need to call it and him as it is - That’s revenge porn, or for the morons a secretly filmed sex video, and he’s a sex offender, not a “celebrity”, not a “reality star”, which are two things he has never been even before all of this.
Guys, I’m sorry for all the words
