I also have a very close friend who was playing for a FC that Smoph was pointedly asked to leave- IYKYK. I’ve seen a few comments like this calling out Mamamia for how bad they are and I’m curious why people think that? Other than this atrocious decision to give Sophie a podcast, I tend to like some of their podcasts, particularly mamamia out loud so I’m wondering why everyone seems to hate them? No judgment, just wondering what I may be overlooking!?

I don’t know if this is generational but prior to ever entering podcasting, it was a widely accepted truth amongst people my age (late 30s to mid 40s) that Mammamia and Mia Freedman was the most problematic, fatphobic, exploitative piece of bullshit workplace to have ever existed. It was where women with a brain went to turn into judgemental, women shaming fembots who prayed at the feet of Mia and condemn anyone who didn’t agree with every single thing they said. Mia is the original media nepo baby and by all accounts was a genuinely horrible person to work for. I’m amazed she was ever able to pívot to a medium that’s allowed her continued success because to put it simply… she’s a bleep.

bleeping bang on. I followed their FB page maybe 7 years ago and I was already losing patience with it when they posted a story about fat shaming/body positivity, then literally the next post was about an outfit Lena Dunham (spelling?) wore to an awards show - a very body shaming angle to the article.

I unfollowed them on every platform then and there and I've never looked back.

Geez I always thought Jaryd was a few sandwiches short of a picnic but I didn’t think he was an asshole. Ghosting someone pregnant is the lowest you can go.

Claiming a woman ‘tricked you’ is just the old misogynistic way of taking no responsibility for your shagging shenanigans. Don’t want a baby? Get a vasectomy, wear a condom, abstain.

If I was JJ I’d be considering my options. Being tied to Jaryd and Sophie (who could end up step mother if they get back together) is the last thing I’d want.

Mia - so white, so rich, private school white girls “ interned ” there, they were supported by their mummies and daddies when normal people couldn’t do it because they had to pay the bills.
Mia giving Sophie time is 100% for the eyeballs and ears - she knows Sophie is a car crash.
Mia deeply offended Roxane Gay going on and on about how huge she was, and years ago had this weird hashtag about her own tiny fat roll and kept posting photos of it.
Also remember Mia complaining about how the “tiny beach town” she holidayed at over summer had become so busy! It was Byron Bay 🤣.

A big yes to all of this! Mia is the reason I found GOMI. I was searching to find other people who disliked her as much as I did and that’s when I discovered GOMI. This was many years ago and back then she was constantly appearing on TV as a panelist and I always wondered what people saw in her.

Now I see less of her and just get crappy Mamamia ads in my FB feed. The articles are trash and I now wonder how exactly this aligns with the organisations goal of making the world a better place for women.

Also she has terrible fashion sense. Tries so hard to pull off quirky but misses the mark by a mile.
