Actually I remember plumbella censoring her swear words in the first minute of a video I watched a while back for exactly that reason. She even said it was so she didn’t get demonetized by youtube. I honestly despise the new “censor your fucks or get fucked” policy youtube has enacted. Let people swear! I dislike plumbella for many reasons but her swearing is one thing that showed off a funny side of her personality. Swearing at the right time is an effective tool of comedy, and she utilized it well.
I definitely agree with it for content that can easily find it’s way to kids (i.e. videos about the sims that aren’t age restricted manually), plus it’s down to whether advertisers are fine with it so clearly some big baller ones don’t like it. They can’t argue with who is paying them.

That’s what youtube kids is for supposedly :/
Plumbella puts a warning in the description of all her videos saying that she swears and her intended audience is 16+. Lilsimsie targets her videos towards kids (and then gets mad at the childish behaviors of her audience lmao) and she doesn’t swear AT ALL. The sims 4 is NOT a kids-only game — and that goes doubly for older games of the franchise. This is 100% a very recent movement towards a puritanical profanity-free internet. Tik tok and twitter both have that culture now and youtube is going that way too in order to appeal to advertisers. That was not the case even just five years ago, youtubers swore all the time and still got ads and monetization and sponsors. There are still plenty of youtubers who do that and still land massive sponsorship deals, but youtube is now trying to say that advertisers don’t like it. History proves otherwise.
Sorry this is just so stupid and punishing to people who don’t want to put out/consume child-friendly content 24/7.

Oh I agree it’s crazy. But this is the problem of being on a platform like YouTube, it can change its policies and if you don’t like it you know where the door is, for better or Worse.

I don’t mind swearing but sometimes I think Plumbella swears just for the sake of it. It’s like how she says witch at the end of every sentence and uses tons of memes a lot more than she used too.

I didn’t say sims is just a kids game, but saying “not just a kids game” tells you everything you need to know. Kids play it. Doesn’t matter whether the demographic is more kids or not, kids play it. That’s how advertisers view it. That’s why the sims 4 is so piss watered down compared to how the sims 1 and even 2 used to be.
I do agree that it’s a tit show, but I don’t feel sorry for people like plumbella who could but doesn’t want to age restrict their content manually because she’ll lose money but still wants to swear their tits off to be an edgelord. Doesn’t matter if she states who her content is for in the description, she should be explicitly expressing in the creator studio that it’s not suitable for kids/is age restricted.

I understand their policy to an extent, but if you look at what has happened to people like RTGame, it's just ridiculous. His video has some good information if you want to see for yourself, I don't think I could explain it well. In all honesty, I don't believe kids should be on YouTube at all, but it is what it is 💀

Ok but kids can google the word porn and click on a porn site — that doesn’t mean pornhub should start making their videos kid-friendly. I grew up on an internet that wasn’t nearly so sterile as it is now and just like 15 years ago, it’s not the job of content creators and websites to make sure the kids are kept from “immoral behavior” it’s on the parents.

Also it’s not an edgelord thing to swear — it’s absolutely 100% a cultural thing. Everyone plumbella grew up around swore, people in the uk swear pretty commonly, it varies from region to region but LOTS of people across North America swear regularly, especially in rural communities. It’s not as taboo as people on the internet seem to believe. Real, non-chronically online human beings use profanity in everyday life. Including around kids, including at work, and especially in high pressure situations.
Sorry I feel like this is coming across quite aggressively. It’s just silly when people try to pretend like swearing is something only teenagers do to seem cool. It’s very much dependent on where you grew up and the culture you were raised in. My parents are pretty religious (not christian though thank duck) and they NEVER swear and instilled the belief that profanity is an unacceptable crime. I was often punished for using the word “stupid” so now I think anyone that raises their nose about cuss words is a self-righteous head lmao.
Anyway through typing all this out I’ve realized that there’s some baggage there I need to unpack! But that aside, it’s a shame that funny and at least halfway decent content creators are getting shafted because they say a couple swear words every now and again. That’s what pisses me off most.

I don't buy the "everyone swears in the North East" thing. My dad is as Teesside as they come and he abhors too much swearing and only does it himself once a blue moon. I don't mind it myself, but there are limits. Youtube is Jesse's employer and she has to follow their rules or prepare to lose out.

RT's video about it is really good, and I genuinely feel for him. This is definitely something that might affect Jesse and something she should consider going forward.

I know this. I grew up close to where Jessie grew up and swore from a very young age because we don’t care up here. I’m not saying people don’t or shouldn’t swear, but you won’t find people in a business settings swearing their head off in front of investors because it’s unprofessional and that’s why and where the advertising element comes in.
Do people swear in entertainment? Yes of course people swear, and then that media is given an age restriction to depict that. Plumbella is doing a video on a game that is PEGI rating of 12 (which porn doesn’t have, FYI), which if it was a rated 12 movie is allowed to swear but it must be infrequent (i.e one f bomb and maybe the mention of titties in a 2 hour movie is allowed but nothing more). So I understand where the advertisers are coming from with their strict rules, even if I don’t fully agree with them.
Personally I think if you have to rely on swearing for comedy like Jessie does most of the time then you’re not actually funny lmao. I don’t care if people choose to swear in their videos but they then can’t cry that they’re missing out on pay by doing so. I’m sure if I walked into a meeting today and told one of my clients that my pussy is on fire they’d swiftly walk out and I’d be on my way to the job centre on Monday.

We’ll just have to agree to disagree on this before Deli gets her period again and takes over the thread

Ok look. I really try not to participate in conversations about deli’s hair because tbh, i basically wear pajamas to work and my hairstyle goes along with that style choice. But you have GOT to be kidding me with this “very professional” hair styling for her sponsored video.

She looks so old in that picture. She's definitely not doing something right with her skin and haircare, which considering how much time she has on her hands to get it right is baffling

i’m on maternity leave and constantly in lounge wear with my hair unbrushed most days so i shouldn’t participate either 🤣🤣🤣

have you never seen how she applies her foundation ?? her looking so old is no surprise to me. the way she rubs and tugs at the sensitive skin around her eyes makes me wince

omg her new vlog 😂😂😂😂😂 “i’m actually working today.. i worked yesterday too. sometimes the weeks for me are 7 day weeks of working.” that’s the biggest load of bullshit i’ve heard. “my days, instead of working your 9-5 job, mines more like, 12-9” yeah there’s just no bleeping way she works 60+ hours a week yet barely gets out 3 videos.

Exactly. I try not to comment on other people’s appearances in general, especially since I only wash my hair every 4-5 days (dry shampoo is a lifesaver) lol. And I tend to dress a bit more casually too, especially since I wfh. But we have a big team intro meeting that will involve turning on our cameras later today, so I washed my hair yesterday and styled it quickly. I’ll run a brush through it again right before the meeting starts. That just seems…idk normal? No one is dressing up or expecting anything fancy, but it would be unprofessional of me to show up with noticeably dirty and unkempt hair.

All snarking aside, hope Deli is okay. It’s a bit out of character for her to show up in multiple videos with unwashed and messy hair. Maybe I’m just projecting since I struggle to keep up with basic hygiene when I’m depressed, idk, but I hope it’s nothing too serious.
