She's so full of tit. Reads to her kids every single night? Righto. So does that include when your overseas and dump your kids with their carer, Simmy? Does that include when you go out in the afternoons and get sloshed on a night out? 🤦🏻‍♀️

So compartmentalised. Reading to your children shouldn’t be a scheduled activity. I have one child with a severe learning delay and one who was decoding words by 5years old. Learning to speak and read comes from intentional and engaging interaction with people around you each day. Looking for the dinosaur sign on the aisle labels at Pak n save or the “duck crossing” sign at the park where we go to feed the ducks is all part of life, learning to read and engage in the world around you.

Smugly posting that you make your 3yo sit still for 30 mins each day and read at him isn’t going to extend his vocab at all. He’s meant to be going to sleep not processing all the words your throwing at him.

The best feeling ever is when a little person brings their book and their snuggly, and climbs into bed and asks to have the book read.

No fake scheduled reading time, no waking in the middle of the night and seeing the sheep is orange, so they know they can't get up, and no one will come to them.

Sometimes they don't have the ability to sit for 30 mins. Its also important you read with them, engage them in the story. Not at them like Simone does. Great example was poor #1 being read a book by her, from his perspective it was upside down, had to be the right way up for the gram.

#1&2 probably comply because they know this is one of the few times they get attention😥
Then, when you see it is all staged for a gram, you wonder, at what cost😥.
