Who is Shannen McGrath? Like, really? Who is she?
I despise this "Influencer Generation" - in my opinion, it's the single biggest contribution to the pressure and anxiety crippling young peoples mental health today. With that said, I have slightly less frustration with "Influencers" that use their platforms for good. Joe Wicks, Januie Medley, Em Ford, all contribute something positive whilst pushing for change.
Even people like James Kavanagh, Enya Martin, James Patrice - their accounts are fun, light hearted, an escape from reality!
Then you have the likes of this one, what is it she does? I'm genuinely baffled. I had no idea who she was until I had a look at her page a few weeks ago and saw how careless and selfish she was flying to "photoshoots" with no care or regard for guidelines, flaunting shite all over her page in restaurants and bars around the city on her return, without a care for anyone, friend, family, hospitality staff - totally facetious behavious (copy and paste that word into Google Shannen, it'll tell you what it means)
THIS is what spurred me on to join this page. I've dipped into her page every couple of days, and this is not meant to sound horrible, but it's beyond cringey. It reminds me of how girls in 2nd year of secondary school went on with each other - everything is just so fickle.
Again, I'd like to point out - I don't care how she looks/dresses (I do however, work within the aesthetic world, if she honestly believes people think she's only had some filler in her lips and Botox in her noggin, she's mistaken. The nose job looks like it was performed by Michael Jacksons surgeon, don't get me started on the Turkey gnashers!)
It's frustrating, and comical, to see her post "Q&A" sessions on her story - giving advice to her followers. I'd sooner take advice from Father Dougal McGuire. Every post is so vacuous (Shannen - adjective 1.having or showing a lack of thought or intelligence; mindless.) They promote an ideology which is so damaging to young, influential girls. Once you have the perfect body, the whitest teeth, the crushed velvet headboard, the designer everything (even if 99% of it is so obviously fake), the trendy dog - that's all you need. You don't need to aspire to anything other than this. I honestly believe if Molly Mae start wearing a human turd in her hair, covered in Swarovski crystals, Shannen would be down in Hillbillies wearing the same thing the following day.
Successful Career? Nah. Education? Nah. Independence? Nah. Basic bleeping cooking abilities ? Naaaaah.
Just get that Frenchie and bleach those teeth, everything else will fall into place.

When you look up shannen on google our forum on tattle is the FIRST thing to show up!!

I agree. I cringe when I hear young girls say they want to be an influencer when they grow up. It relies entirely on the existance of a social media platform, requires little to no skills, and could disappear in the morning. The people who do it for fun as a side line to a career are the ones who will have the last laugh. Shannen's page is basically a collection selfies - a shrine to herself for want of a better phrase. With no skills to showcase on her page her 'content' is non-existent. She doesn't offer you anything other than her own self-absorption. In her world getting her make-up done so she can take pictures in her sitting room and traveling against Public Health advice for a photoshoot in a kebab shop is a priority. I genuinely believe she lives in a fantasy. Does she not realise the world is descending into a major economic recession, businesses are closing, people are loosing their jobs, going into arrears on their mortgages. St Vincent dePaul has called for urgent action as the poverty figures are likely to deteriorate even further due to COVID-19. She may feel she's only one person but her recklessness is contibuting to the spread and preventing us from moving out of these restrictions. For someone who doesn't work she has all the time in the world and does so little that is actually worthwhile or of benefit to society.
Agree with all of this. Again, I want to reiterate - nobody on here should be coming for her in a malicious way. I couldn't give a rats arse if she's got a gold card for Hillbillies and lives on fried chicken for the rest of her life.
It's her blatant disregard and unawareness of what's going on in the world that I find atrocious. The country is in tatters, and will be for years to come. Financially - we are fucked, yet she is so far removed she has no idea.
I think what I'm trying to say - her content is damaging. Her photo's and plugs are damaging. Her lack of awareness is damaging. I know she'll be reading this hitting the roof thinking "HOW IS SHARING MY STORY DAMAGING" - but I honestly believe she just doesn't get it.
Like you mentioned, her page has no substance - it's a shameless plug for herself. She lives in the world of Shannen - and is absolutely fine with that. Just freaks me out that so many gullible young girls have her on a pedestal? There is NOTHING inspirational about spending thousands on surgery, make up, hair extensions with no aspiration or drive to better yourself.
Get your head in a book! Influencers, like everything in the world, will fade off into obscurity - can't bleedin' wait!

.. imagine if her instagram account got hacked or deleted tomorrow what she have... NOTHING.. besides thousands of photos of herself in her camera roll.. because what she being doing the last few months does she honestly think an employee would trust her.. cause she Defo not a team player!! Also she forget once she starts a job lol especially paying tax the revenue will have a field day.. sure she claiming the COVID payment.. there nothing stopping her for getting retail job as she stated before she worked in it? She getting free money of the state, cause in her mind she entitled to it cause covid took her career

Remember when that scandal came out about them girls getting scammed and than she set up a new profile saying her main one got hacked and for everyone to follow the new one and than when hardly anyone was following her she magically reappeared on her main account if her profile was to disappear tomorrow absolutely no-one would bat an eyelid. She is a no-one but a car crash insta. She would want to get a grip and stop thinking that her insta is going to pay her way for the rest of her life.

If brands wants to work with her they need to get their head examined! Cause realistically she doesn’t promote brands well or make sales for them.. I say after they send her free stuff she does crap review and I’m sure they don’t work with her again.. she only targets small business starting out., big brands don’t work with her..
let’s not forget all her fake Followers and half the Middle East following her.. ??which for a brand she no target audience, no age profile for goods / services.. she Just takes photos of herself..
